Yes.. but NPCs are just "there"... They never have a "logged in" status that I'm aware of. Just one reason why they don't show up in PvP, I would assume. It probably looks for someone from the accounts db.

Yeah, forgot about that. hmm...would a random work, have it set to login in once each newday for half an hour? but...it would have to have its own actual account first...how does the db know if someone is online? maybe basing a code off of that would do it....

The Santa Claus NPC does show up as logged in under Online Players. I never thought to check the PvP, though....

all NPCs that are active will show up as LOGGED IN for a short while after someone logs in and out. I was wondering if there was anyway I could disable the login for a NPC everytime someone logs in and maybe have it log in every newday for a few minutes or so. If it shows up in the PVP, that would create an even better AI NPC start. I have yet to start coding because of several ideas I can't really think through. This is just a start...

I started writing a module last year, but never got around to finishing it.

Basically I had an editor in the grotto that showed a list of NPCs that were stored in a table that was more or less a copy of the accounts table. You could edit each to your liking and enable/disable them. Enabling would copy them to the accounts table and make them 'live'.

I was working on the 'AI' side of things when I got distracted. I had edited a core file to add a hook so I could grab commentary text before if was injected into the database and look for keywords that I could reply to.

Must start back on that. Smiley

Started back on it. It's coming along nicely.

I'll beta release it shortly without any AI and it'll just be an editor that can create NPCs and insert them into the game where they'll behave like the stand alone NPC modules, posting random set lines of text etc. Smiley
