"this" is hard coded in the output so that if an item is plural, it doesn't make sense.

I recommend just taking out "this" and adding "a" in the settings for singular items.  "a ball and chain"

interesting grammar find. may be due to code author not speaking english as his primary language.

i suspect there are other instances of misapplied terminology when it comes to singular v plural output.  there is a snippet i see periodically in another module, but at the moment can't recall.
