okay first of all what is FTP? I read the FAQ and it told me to extract the files with winRaR (which I did) and use FTP on them...what is FTP? and when I try to start it all I see is a message saying I don't have enough memory please help me...and why can't I pm people here? So what I'm asking is what is FTP and how can I solve my memory problem and maybe help me with my mail.

You can't PM here because you are a new user and new users try to send PMs to us asking for help. Usually, they ask us for help instead of getting off their own bums and reading this place and helping themselves. Most of the experienced people here get really annoyed at laziness, and you're displaying a lot of it so far by not bothering to click on links in bright red.

I am providing you with the exact thing you have asked for:

If you want to get memory out of your computer, remove the screws on the bad side and open the (normally) left side of you PC, then remove as many memory bars as you want from their sockets. Note to unclip them.

If you want to install PHP and Mysql, the best idea is to set up a local  testserver.

Seening has he as asked what FTP is, and taking in account that the basic understaning of FTP and Mysql is needed to run LoTGD, he should try to run the other games that have been posted here? before he tries to tackle a monster like LoTGD, yes?

:just reads Nightborn's reply and snickers: I can understand I have not been here long but I have seen atleast 10 of the same post spelt out differently appear over a 30 min window...could only imagine if those were PMs while they are trying to do their own thing.

I think you need to slow down a bit, and learn the basics of computing before running full speed ahead into attempting to run a website you're obviously not properly equipped to manage.

When you use terms such as "get memory off my computer", it is very evident that you are attempting to operate at an advanced level without any of the requisite knowledge.

Did you read ANY of the links Saucy posted?

DragonPrime is not a site intended to teach computing and webhosting basics to people.  There are other sites and resources on the internet for that.

I strongly recommend that you do yourself, and us, a favour by seeking the proper resources to learn the basics before you attempt to install Legend of the Green Dragon.

Rome wasn't built in a day, and I can guarantee your website won't be built in a day either.  Take your time and do it right.

Before the other hang you by your ankles and beat you mercilessly. I am gonna help alil..go into your browser and just type "FTP" in your search window, they have Filezilla and SmartFTP but I use XP so no idea if they will work with '98, and remove stuff on your computer? you can use the add/remove feature in your control panel, that is what I believe your asking, but tackle all this at your own risk, I am just giving my suggestion.  Grin

Mayhem, that was not so helpful...

@London

If you do not know what an abbreviation means (in this case "File Transfer Protocol") you should consult google which almost instantly brings up a decent description of what it is.

Wikipedia.com would be one the sites it comes up with.

As Talisman said, you are in very early stages, too early for support here as there *are* personal requirements you should have.

Saucy provided useful links.

exactly Nightborn I am in early stages...I am trying to learn. I downloaded Tango FTP and it's not working and saying I have to download something else which I tried but didn't work. I looked at every single one of Saucy's links. Unlike others I did try to learn without posting. I looked up FTP on wikipedia. It says It is used to transfer information between two computers. So here is my two big questions to end all questions. What use is FTP client to Lotgd...other words what dose it bring to the mix? How do I get remotley started after I downloaded WinRaR and lotGD and I do not have a working FTP?

please don't yell/flame me...just trying to learn from peeps who have done it firsthand.

Ooh, my turn!

Hopefully you've read the survival guide posted above (thanks Saucy!)  The problem is that LoGD is meant to be run by people who are already experienced website administrators.  We can't spend our time bringing you up to our level of knowledge.  The time collectively spent discouraging you so far is not one one-hundredth of the time it would take you to learn this stuff from us.

In the context of the game, you're a level 2 farmboy trying to defeat a level 10 Baron.  It's possible, but only if you hit that one in a million chance.

Web forums are a terrible place to get training.
What you want is to get a trainer.  Somebody you know in real life who knows things about computers, who is willing to explain all the needed concepts to you and work with you to get the game up and running on a webhost.

As an example of the required knowledge (don't give the answer away, folks!): Does your computer use an x86-type microprocessor?  If so, which variety?

depending on your operating system, if ye are using windows there is a built-in ftp function or ye can download an application such as cuteftp.  there are literally dozens of ftp programs ye can use.

i use a mac, so my client is cyberduck.

if one doesn't work or make sense to ye, find another.  basically it is a way to connect to a remote server to upload and download folder/files.  it should be as easy as copying folders/files from one directory to another on your local using file manager.  only difference is that ye are doing it from one computer to another computer.
