At this point, I'm going to start asking that ANYONE interested in adding modules to the wiki jump on in.

Even if people are only able to enter one or two modules a week, the more people contributing, the quicker we get this archive of information up to a comprehensive state!  You do not need to be a "recognized" of "official" member of any focus group to contribute to the project.

If you don't have wiki edit rights, send me a PM and in most cases you'll have the access within a few hours, or less.

2 new proposals that have been made.  I'd like some feedback:

1.  Add a section to list all the hooks that the module has.  This would look like this:

==Specifications==
*Module Hooks
{{hook|forest|event}}
{{hook|village}}
{{hook|village|event}}

2.  Add categories for 'effects':
ii.e. player death, forced battle, gain/lose gold/gems/favor/charm, etc.. Again, (mostly) for convenience of searching. (Any adjustment of $session['user']['xxx'])

I think the first suggestion might not be bad... it could definitily have utility.  the second one, on the other hand, would be a bit more cumbersome.  Essentially, either you have to know the module or read through the whole thing.  Personally, I don't look forward to doing that with 1100 modules.

Any thoughts?

I like the idea of having a listing of module hooks for each module (for the sake of gauging server load, if nothing else). The second proposal...I think the general description would cover most of the important bits, so it's a little unnecessary.

For the first one, you should use hook-$hookname, so you don't get muddle with other categories.

Sorry, I'm just not into the latest proposals.  It feels like we're coding our module twice when we have to enter all the hooks and modified tables and fields, etc. into the wiki.  There is an area for author's to comment on possible load issues already; and if someone else is interested enough, they can download the module and look through the code themselves.

Just a little update...

I considered several thoughts on the hooks and I think it seems like a reasonable thing to add.

I'll continue to work to add this.  Here's my cheat sheet so far for people who want to copy/paste the hooks:

*Module hooks
{{hook|allprefs}}
{{hook|allprefnavs}}
{{hook|changesetting}}
{{hook|charstats}}
{{hook|dragonkill}}
{{hook|footer-hof}}
{{hook|forest}}
{{hook|forest|event}}
{{hook|newday}}
{{hook|newday-runonce}}
{{hook|village}}
{{hook|village|event}}

On the topic of hooks, here's something that might be helpful.

Changed the syntax for hooks
Normal hook, use:
{{hook|hook_name}}
Event hook, use:
{{hook|hook_name(without event)|event}}

so
{{hook|newday}}

{{hook|travel|event}}
