Very well! That's pretty much what I needed to know, I think. Smiley
I love games in which stats such as hunger, etc, change at certain times. It makes things more realistic. So I want to try this in the future. ^^ I'd love to... someday, create a new stat for LotGD. Hunger and Thirst could be nice additions.
Or, in some RPG's based on turns, this would help me. An example is Kill Monster's turns version.

Thank you!

In lotgd, you can use the newday hook or the newday_runonce hook in the modules.

You don't need a cronjob to have lotgd running =) but its a good way to remove the pain from the poor player that hits the newday_runonce ^^ and has a bad pagegen.

True... LotGD gives you the option to use cron jobs or not though, right? I selected 'Yes' in my server. ^^;

^^ if you select "yes" you need to setup a cronjob =) if you don't do it, you  won't have any newday_runonce things executed.

Starting the cronjob is not something that you can do within an logd file.  The cronjob will point to tasks to be performed in your file.

cronjob is like a *nix scheduler, where you tell it "At this time, in this frequency of occurence, do this task".  You need some sort of way of setting that on your host machine, either through console (as Cats indicated) or through a cronjob manager in a control panel.

Understood! Then, for now, I will set this option to 'No'. Thank you for that. Otherwise I'd be lost!

I've had the HTML conversion of this for the longest time, but kept putting off uploading it.  Now that cron jobs are covered in the Wiki, this probably isn't as useful, but I'm still attaching what I have.

NOTE: Unzip them all in the same directory to avoid confusion with the folders.  Also, there is not supposed to be a cpanel_cron5.jpg!

How bad is it to run the cronjob more often?
Running it every minute might be too much (although, if you have enough players they surely click much often). But perhaps every hour?

This way you need not change the crontab setup, if you modify your start of new day etc. For some sites, without easy access to the crontab this might be useful.

If it's not 'newday', the script doesn't do much.
