Is there an easy way to change the way the forest nav works so that if a player has already visited Golinda and paid today, the "H"ealer Hut option in the Forest automatically goes to Golinda instead?  Having to go from the forest to the "V" main city, to the "J" lodge, to select gol"I"nda, to "S"ee golinda, get a "C"omplete heal, and then return three times to get back to the forest is a bit of a hassle.

If a player could just go through that dance-step once to pay Golinda, and then be able to access her via the "H"ealer option in teh forest on future visits, it would be easier on the player and on my web server. Smiley

Yes, it is possible, but you would need to do that using a module...

thy observation, seretogis, was made quite some time ago by others.  *sigh

i completely agree that if the player has the ability to use golinda, having to return through all the screens in the lodge each time she is used makes it quite time consuming.

for me, in order to have the time to play all my turns once i had gotten a large number of dks, in turn gaining many turns, i stopped using her altogether.

i hope someone with coding skills will write a module to cut out the unnecessary steps each time after paying for her healing skills.

Maybe the Golinda module could also have a forest hook, either blocking the old healer or adding the nav to golinda?

...so that if a player hast paid for the privilege of seeing golinda for that day by going to the lodge, a link for her would appear in the forest?  i think that to be a great idea.

replacing for the day, the link to the healer's hut, makes the most sense to me.  though, adding a specific link to her, keeping the one to the healer's hut to drain gold from a player who isn't paying attention is also a thought.

Your request was how Golinda used to work.

JT changed it so that she no longer lives in the forest.

While from a RP point I can see it making sense, I cannot for the life of me understand why the extra steps were put back in. You'll have to pick JT's brain on this one.

Well... There could be a simple option to turn on the behaviour as it is now or as it is now changed.

For what reason was Golinda taken out of the forest? Any special, technical reason?

  Cool

I sort of remember a thread where Kendaer gave the reasoning, but I don't want to put in the detective work.

The reason for it being changed was a petition on central and I objected to the change at the time.

I personally don't care.

how very strange... i remember when the change was made to put golinda into the lodge. i also remember being someone who petitioned asking why did there need to be so many steps to return to use her services after having paid for them.  i suspect mine was not the only petition then, nor even now as newer players encounter her for the first time.

well, tis now no matter, as a server admin can add either xchrisx's or eth's module to lessen the steps in the process.

Yet I recommend that these changes should be made to the core file.

Having modules that replace existing ones (and less steps are simply better) would be not be the best thing als most overwrite the golinda.php with a new version of lotgd.

if you want to have it both ways, make a small setting to golinda.

Making things too difficult to collect on first installation is unnecessary.

I uploaded a modified golinda2.zip, where you can exactly chooser "her" behaviour. But this is still untested
