trying to throw something together here, and i'm stuck...literally Smiley

Trying to hook into "mailfunctions" and redirect if they are a farmboy/denied access to YOM.

the problem is, when you redirect, it changes allowednavs and output, even for just a pop up...so you get stuck in badnav from the popup.

I've tried experimenting with saving the output and allowednavs and restoring them after the redirect, tried overriding forced navs, tried allowanonymous with an html redirect...I'm lost.

why would ye want to deny YOMs to a farmie?

just curious.

i can see it being very useful when a player has been muted, but they continue to harass someone through YOM.

an initiative to prevent spammers from just registering and spamming another URL.

With my game, YOM is a crutch far too many people abuse.  We encourage people to converse in the public discussions if they need assistance, etc.  This will help "nip it in the bud" so to speak.

Why not just hook into header-mail and call page-footer?

how would that make a difference?  You're still dealing with the pop up window.

Would it be possible to just deny farmies that ability to write mail, but still let them recieve? Not allowing them all mail functions, would make the "first Yom' module useless and there are times when and admin/mod needs to mail them with a warning or an answer to a question or even a personal 'welcome to the site' type thing.

if you have a game where ppl stay 10+ game days farmies (usual server time) and they can't yom you will have an empty game...

and call page_footer means killing YOM so they won't evens see the "you've been killed while you were in ...." mail.

I would rather do something different: YOM filter.

scan for html tags or .com or .xx addresse or with http.

not as effective, but well.

or block mails from farmies with level <5 or so. but not completely.

well, suggestions on how to block mail?  I figured cortal's friendlist's ignore feature could be ported to do the job...but it's not working...

I tried hooking into header-popup, just like friendlist and with the following code:
Code:
    if (stristr($SCRIPT_NAME, "mail")==true && httpget('op')=='send') {
        if(get_module_pref("denyaccess")){
            popup_header("YOM Access Denied");
            output_notl("`c`^[`%");
            $t = translate_inline("Back to your Mail");
            rawoutput("<a href='mail.php'>$t</a>");
            output_notl("`^]`c`Q`n");
            $msg=translate_inline("You have lost permissions to YOM.  This is usually determined as action taken if you have misused the priviledge of YOM.  If you feel this may be in error, please petition.");
            output_notl("`n`n`c`b$msg`b`c`n`n");
            popup_footer();
            die();
        }
