PS - You might find it necessary to copy the phpmyadmin into your webroot folder.

The whole directory? or is there a cirtian file I'm looking for?  Oh, and after installing it, my French isn't THAT good, but I did manage to find the English translator Wink

Right or wrong, I just copied the entire folder over.  Seems to work, so I'm not complaining.   Grin

BTW, Lightbringer's problem seems to have been his DLink Cable Modem Combo router needing port forwarding

Go to x:\mysql\bin and run the file winmysqladmin.exe.  That should start mysql and ask you to set a default username and password to access your mysql databases.

I would just like to thank you all for your help.  my localhost server is up and running thanks to the great support I got and was showed here.  Now to install the 100s of modules that have come bundled with it (I don't remember this many!)

I have the same problem with my DSL moden, but it does not have the ability to set up a virtual server on it, nor port forwarding.  That's fine.  Work is progressing slowly.  Modifying DeathDragon's housing system to allow for some of my future mods. BTW, is there a tutorial on creating modules? All I'm going is modifying existing files, which makes it hard to export and share, but all this modhook and dohook talk is making my eyes cross.  In fact, having seen how much information is available on this topic in the article index, once I learn how to build up a module from the ground, I'd be more than happy to put all that information in an article and submit it to help others understand, instead of only modifying existing modules with simialr functions.

If anyone installs phpMyAdmin on a public site, it's a good idea to insert a password protection system into the config.inc.php file, on the top line, even if you don't give out the Url. I use txtAuth myself.
