DragonPedia, or DragonWiki(?), has been down for just a little bit. Since I was rather young and naive, I never actually read the thing until roughly a month from it being down. What was so good about it? Did you really learn that much from it, to the point of it being vital to learning how to design under this source?

My main query is: was DragonPedia that viable, and what features of the DragonPedia did you use the most?

The old one should still be recoverable as long as there's an upgrade path from the wiki version originally used. I may have a gander at it over the next couple weeks of vacation.

Talisman, if you did that, I would appreciate that greatly.

Steven, most of the wiki was not filled in, but there were a few pages full of gold. As I recall, those were the listings of core hooks and functions. I used those all the time.

Couldn't you just do a grep, regex, and file reporting for both the hooks and functions?

Hell, off the top of my head, you can easily grab all the core functions with something similar to:
Code:
$all = scandir('/lib");
foreach($all as $num => $file)
{
if (pathinfo("lib/$file",PATH_EXTENSION) == "php")
$token = token_get_all(file_get_contents('lib/$file");
switch ($token)
{
//search for T_FUNCTION and set of params
}
}

Edit: Wrote that really late after work, and is not the best method.

(for those who are interested, you can still access the old wiki through the Wayback Machine)

http://web.archive.org/web/20120614163100/http://wiki.dragonprime.net/index.php?title=Main_Page

If we brought the wiki back up, it'd be neat to contribute to the documentation, but I feel the current way is a little clunky. This is more a limitation of MediaWiki, not of the previous authors, but plugins/standardisation to allow for better navigation would be neat Smiley

Stephen, (sorry for misspelling it before, by the way,) while that's true, it makes the most sense to have a single public copy of the list, rather than everyone having to produce a list for themselves. Those who most need such a list are the least likely to be capable of what you suggested anyway. For myself, I know the core well enough I'll find the source code for any function I'm curious about, since that gives me the best understanding of how it functions anyway.

At this point, I'd be happy enough to give up on the old content and just install a new wiki.  We could reconstruct the content from the Wayback machine, and get a working wiki much more quickly that way.
