Thought it couldn't hurt to post this here.

I'm trying to find experienced staffers and would love for them to know php.
(really need a coder who is looking for challenging and new ideas.. i have a ton of them)

However, that is not a requirement.

Be careful who you take on... Not everyone is who they say they are, and more specifically: Not everyone can do what they say they can. On the games I've worked on we almost invariably find imposters looking for power.

Thanks. I have a couple of really good friends/coders that will watch my back and make sure the coder really knows what he's doing. I've had to turn away several before.  I really need to learn to code one day... still looking for that "extra time". lol
I had a mod from dragonprime teaching me at one time but he was ill and then one day he just vanished.

   I'm always looking for coders. I have many ideas. A friend has been working on a new "marriage module" for me for probably over a year.. its that huge and I've had several working on "spirit cards" for about 2 years.. its also pretty big.. but my coders don't have the time. I don't see why people can't just stop working and tending to their family and just code for me. 0_0

I'm not gonna say much on this, but one shouldn't look for coders on DragonPrime. Yes, most of  the people here are great coders, and people are attempting to learn things. However, you are gonna have all sorts of people requesting to be your coder. If you are gonna take someone up on their offer to code for you, please make sure that you do some background information on them, and that they aren't abusive when it comes to their powers and abilities. Just a friendly reminder.

I was just offering cause you needed help, so I don't really care if my comment makes you not take me in. xD The only way you can trust someone is if a) you know them in RL b) You've known them for long in the lotgd world and are great friends

I posted some of that like 6 months ago, however; if someone wants to learn the hard way, at least they learn in the end. Adding to Grant's words of wisdom: Find Saucy's thread on superuser privy granting.. She has some interesting insights.

If you only order modules "in a box", and check them for invasive code (like backdoors) at a glance, it should work out.

But giving out the server credentials, letting somebody do as they please ... well don't do it.

I never asked for your help... I have coders already. I try to make it a point to hire a coder that has been around for a few years, and people who have been administrators for me before on previous realms. That way I already know how they work, and what to expect from them.

I really appreciate the help. As most of you know, I'm not new at this. I know what Im getting into by asking for coders. I've been down the road many times and got burned many times. However, I am willing to give it another shot. I meet the most interesting people this way. Some have turned out to be trusting friends.. others.. I have buried in my back yard. o_0

So.. Dylan. Please stop by Tarkenna and send me a yom. Lets see what you can do.

Oh and as Nightborn said and excellent advise by the way.. I always have the modules checked out before I use them. I'm not as green as I look.
