If I remember correct there was autoresurrection in LoRD and this module should bring it to LotGD too. If player dies and he/she stays dead x days(x is defined by admin, x is real time days) he/she will be resurrected automatically. It worked fine when I tested it but of course there can be some mistakes. If there are mistakes or something should be added into it, let me know I'll try fix those. If the whole module is a disaster, let me know that too and I'll remove it from the share folder Smiley

I did this module because if there are a lack of players in the server, players can get frustrated if there's no one to kill (of course if pvp figths are enabled).

On the flip side:
- If a player logs off and returns 2 -3 weeks later, they will find their character has been slain in the fields several times over with great loss of experience - Will you be manually giving them back all the exp lost?

From time to time real life intervenes and a player cannot play for x amount of time. ie; I have several military/naval personnel who play on our game - sometimes they cannot play for several weeks at a time. Another example is when a player was hospitalized for a few weeks. Another example would be a player needed a break from the game and does not play for a few weeks.

Just food for thought if you intend to use a mod like this.

It may be better to create some bogus accounts for your players to beat up on instead of making real players suffer undue hardship.

Or create a mod where players can use their pvp turns fighting some special creatures or mock players. Since the rewards are high, so must the losses be.

Just more food for thought. Cool

Well, as I said there was this kind of option in Legend of the Red Dragon(LoRD) and I did this module because I wanted to refresh my memories. It's true what you said about those flip sides, but on the other hand this also encourages to play more... or that's what it did to me in LoRD(long time ago). Setting resurrection time to 15 days will help with those problems a litte bit. Smiley

That last idea of your's is pretty good because not all servers (e.g. my server) have a lot of people playing logd.

Thanks for the comments

I have had the same thing running on my 0.9.7 game for about a year... haven't had any complaints.... actually those who realize it has happened make sure they come back before they start getting resurected...  and I installed this (thanks, I was about to code this) and set it for 15 days... which is 5 days before they are about to be autodeleted.... (at least those who haven't slain the dragon)

And like content expiration, maybe there could be 2 settings 1 for those who haven't killed the dragon and a little higher setting for those who have.

There was a major bug in the code. First I named this module "resurrection" and later changed it to "autoresurrection". There were "resurrection"s in the code where should have been "autoresurrection"s and that should be now fixed. I also updated the module so that admin can set a different resurrection day(1-30) for players with DKs and for players without DKs, like lonnyl mentioned. Smiley

Sad but true, I forgot the situation where player is killed by another player in a pvp fight. The one who got killed is dead until he/she logs in again and I didn't consider that until I realized that someone could take advantage of it. Now every dead person should be resurrected after x days, the way they died (someone attacked them and they died, they got killed in the forest or by attacking another player) doesn't matter.

Hopefully next mistakes comes out from someone else's "betatesting" of this module (I'm exhausted) Smiley

I think this is a wonderful idea, especially for those that have fewer people on their servers.  Honestly, I think if a player has been gone from the game for a week or more, regardless of the reason, they should expect to lose something, this to me is an acceptable loss.

I work in the claims department of a large insurance company, so dealing with death all day kinda gives me a cynically jaded perspective on life.  People can have excuses for not logging on, and it's a shame if it's serious, but it's a game and to do well in the game you're required to play it.  If I logged into my game after being gone for a while, I would expect to be a bit behind and I'd have to spend some time building up my character again.  C'est la vie.

Granted, everyone will have their own opinion as to whether or not this module fits their own server.  Which is why LOGD has the brilliance of having a module system, the admin can choose which features they will have on their server and which ones not to have.

I personally will be setting this module up and having a 3 or 5 day auto-res setting, cuz my players love PVP.  I also have some dummy characters setup for my players to kill, but it's a pain logging into them all once in a while to ressurect them, so this is fantastic for us lazy admins!
