As I don't currently have time to write this myself, I am posting the idea here. If nobody gets to it, I will, but it may take a few weeks.

A user on my server asked about a Gem Auction.

Players can post their gems and others can bid on them...unlike ebay, as soon as the users gets a bid he is happy with, it can be accepted.

any thoughts or suggestion?

It would be nice, it could kinda work along the lines of the tournament module.

A lot of mixing and matching of code would need to be added, such as some systemmail, to tell when a bid comes in. As well as some user input areas to show how much they wish to bid.

Although, selling Gems, I am not really fond of...for it is an easy way of cheating...and in the past, when Gemshops were rampant, there was not too much balance.

I concur with the Gem point, but an auction in general would be a very nice feature.  Selling your old weapons at a lower price for instance.  And when the much anticipated (by me at least) item module arrives, auctions could be made extremely cool, with the selling of rare and quest items too Smiley

If a user is charged with a quest to find some rare item and then just buys it off Ye Olde Ebaye, what's the point? Rather takes the whole "quest" part out of the quest, doesn't it?
