Danilo,

Quote
I dont think anyone else made anything like it.
This module is, unless your name is also Randall Medlin, a plagarization of a module posted previously on sourceforge.

The link to the old posting is private due to abuses of the system, but I provide it below just for completeness sake.  There are some (such as strider) who has access to these areas and can thus verify the plagarization.
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=750346&group_id=76499&atid=547281
For anyone else, I hereby make a copy of the original available (since it was publically released) at http://www.dragoncat.net/~jtraub/alter.php.txt

(Competely aside: I objected to the original version because it was just too easy to always get what you wanted/too rewarding.  This version is identical in the wording and rewards)

Unless you get Randall Medlin to post his permission for you to take and release his module, this is against the rules of this site.

Consider this a warning.

I've also seen the original more than a year ago. Oooh let me see if I can remember... a scroll? Lightning? A book? I find it near impossible to believe you thought this all up just like someone else did. Really, it's time to get your own material, is there anything of yours that isn't the work of someone else? And are there any characters that don't belong to a famous author?

*disgusted*

Hmm, I believe I saw it as well, but I didnt have access to the module info, so I didnt see the author earlier.

But, re-releasing someone elses work under your own name, is wrong. You could have said that it was his keeping everything the same, then released it knowing full-well that it was his and everyone else knew that. If you were just going to repost it, incase someone couldn't find it. But, what you did is downright wrong.

Now, I wouldnt be surprised if you dont get the respect that you think you deserve. Even when I was just starting off, I wrote straight from my head. Following Saucy's instruction to do something simple (Don't try to conquer the world in one day!) Then adapt it to do something more, then get the hang of it. But taking someone lese's work and calling it your own, is really messed up. Even more so, when they have that rule posted on the home page...

*utterly appauled and disgusted*

Mate... you're a liar.

You knew it was not your work, yet you said you didn't think anyone had done it before.

Not only that, but you claimed it as your own work.

From your own readme:

Well I know these pages have not been made into modules and Im sure others have devised very similar code for the same purposes as these village scripts.  I just wanted to make sure I complied with the license and released all my code.  If you have a module very similar to one in this package, Im sorry, they are very simple and I did make them my self.

Hey, if I paste the complete works of Shakespeare into one of my mods, can I say that I made it myself too?

On almost every single module, be it 9.7 or 9.8, the Author is listed. It is right at the top, in the moduleinfo.

Like Saucy said, you claimed it as your own work...which is...ack, I can't put it into words...too frusturated

Read the rules for sharing mods on this board.  If you didn't write it, don't post it.

If you have one but you don't know who the original author is, don't post it.

Most importantly - do not steal the work of others.

You would not be the first to be banned from this board for ignoring these rules, or thinking we are not serious about enforcing them.

Consider this your warning.  Next one will be banning.  This topic is closed.
