1 time till now, in about 8 months (12 if I consider the first 4 being a player).
Not proud of it but it was necessary.

way to kill the mood ex.  Wink  Sounds pretty serious, care to mention what happenned?

after i banned him, i was curious as to what it all does for the player.  And really, they are still able to be online.  even after locking the account.  not much of a banning feature...  but i guess it stopped him from talking.

No problem to tell you about the fact. He had started to spam all over the village, insulting everyone. After blocking his IP I've never seen him online again.

We have used it a few times.... but then we are pretty strict on the swearing... and have had a few people persist.   We only performed temporary bans on them and let them back into the game after a short while.  They did learn to live by the rules however, and the ban did what it was supposed to do.  It does spoil things for a while.  In my time doing this there have been some players, and even some other modders who have "spoiled" things for me.  You eventually get over it.  And don't all just sit there and wonder who it was... it's not someone we see around here much anymore.  And on that note most everyone who comes here is an excellent addition to the community.

BTW the permanent ban has occourred after two temporary. That user was really a problem, and the permanent ban was, unfortunately, the only solution.

On the central server 'tis pretty much a daily occurrence..... 'tis useful to prevent disruptive players from spoiling it for the rest, and most of them don't come back after a ban and keep breaking rules. Permanent bans are still reasonably rare though.

Well, If you have cpanel it makes it real easy to ban people from any of your sites. Just go to the CPanel and ban there IP addy.

I used the permanent ban once on a user who tried to get peoples passwords with a ye old mail message.

thats the only time though, I'm fairly relaxed about stuff so I doubt I'll ever ban anyone unless it's for something really stupid like that.

came close ones, he was a terror, then after everyone hated him he cooled down and just became more obnoxious. He finally asked me to "delete" someone who was spamming his Ye Old Mail, of course he deleted the messages so he claimed (the supposed harrasser had deleted his acount well before this anyways}

banned!

IP 24.24.94.72

ID 149968df735bfc8d5778d348 4271a908

Perma-Ban for threatening to hack the server...

After restoring things from a massive DoS attack..... New server in place with new software (hopefully no longer vulnerable, the faqs say I'm ok)...... Anyway.... letting you all know about a trouble maker who said they have hacked into 6 other games and can hack ours just as easily.
