One of the things I would personally like to see included in the 0.9.8 release is new skins.

The current ones are not "doing it" for the majority of people.

So I'm asking for new ones - better ones.  And since "better" is more of a personal preference, there's not much I can elaborate on that.

While there can be no formal guarantees, skins that impress MightyE or Kendaer enough may be included in the next release of the game.

Thanks.

First

(one of the most populer skins and is defalt on most servers)

yarbrough: (38,466 bytes)

Images:
headbkg.gif | 20,929 bytes
lscroll.gif | 874 bytes
title.gif | 7,348 bytes
uscroll | 867 bytes

HTML Code:
3,512 bytes

Style:
4,936 bytes

Then

LoGD-public-2: (32,678 bytes)

Images:
logo.jpg | 14,159 bytes
trc.gif | 895 bytes
brc.gif | 851 bytes
tlc.gif | 893 bytes
blc.gif | 845 bytes
btm.gif | 812 bytes
spacer.gif | 43 bytes
tm.gif | 820 bytes
trt.gif | 812 bytes

HTML Code:
8,365 bytes

Style:
4,183 bytes

I would love to be smart and say I knew HOW I was able to get mine to have MORE images with less bandwidth... but to tell the truth I havent a clue. I supose it's cuse headbkg.gif is so bloody HUGE hehe.

anyway. you can prevew it on my server before downloading. and with the LoGD-HFS and Jessy. I am running a ftp and file share (seeding files) and my http server off of that open pipe. images take a bit to load cuse you have to bloody well wait in line! so for best testing results on speed upload it to your server and test it there. but by all means preview it on mine so you know if you will like it in the first place anyway.

LoGD-public-2 (hfs skin for LoGD verson 1.0.1)

I've actually looked at this and it's relatively clean and clear.. Only a couple of problems that I see with it visually (and that has to do with the way stylesheets render in some browsers  -- for instance the bio field in the preferences page is stuck behind the paypal logos).  Also I got occasional visual glitches, so I suspect there is an HTML error somewhere in some cases (probably in a case where there is a color bleed so you get screwy span tags)

Regardles, I'll be downloading this and looking at it more carefully and putting it into 0.9.8 (probably with some slight modifications if I can track down the visual glitches)

I've u/led it, and told my players about it.  It looks awesome for me!   My browser is Mozilla Firefox, on a Mandrake Linux system.

I told my players, that if they gets bugs with it, to petition me.  I'll keep you updated.

I've installed this on my beta server logd-beta.dragoncat.net for anyone who want to see how it behaves in the 0.9.8 world.

Big visual defect on the blog page..

The purple and blue text colors are a bit hard to read, but that could probably be fixed by darkening the green a bit more.

The bolding/unbolding has togo.. it makes text jump around (specifically the motd link/email link).  The motd link is always bold even when no new motds are there. (this is bad imho).. This should probably be done with different colors instead of bold/non-bold.

Don't get me wrong though.. I like it.. it'll just require some small fixing to get it to work sanely.

And now I've tweaked all of those bits so that it worked, and added in the various small bits that changed in templates between 0.9.7 and now (there were some small bits, including the fix to make the blog calendar display work and to add the orange text colors Smiley)  With all that done and the color scheme darkened a bit, it looks quite nice imho and works quite well.  I did rename the them to 'Jade' so that it had a 'cool' name rather than 'Logd-public-2' Smiley  it is still fully credited to FW Viper and I hope he approves of my name choice and color tweaks Smiley   Feel free to check it out on either logd.dragoncat.net or logd-beta.dragoncat.net and give me your opinions!

I would be interested in findingout where that style bug for the Preferences page was. I spent a good few hours looking for it.

and I completly aprove of the changes though now the logo looks slightly blered. I could probubly fix that. could you send me the modified verson so I can work on image quality (without making them biger in size)

One of my user testing the "Jade" skin, has complained about the visibility of armors and weapons that can be bought and after checking it I have to agree with her.
I have modified the output lines to give different color to the affordable armor/weapon (green) and to the rest (red).
Code:
       if ($row[value]<=($session[user][gold]+$tradeinvalue)){
            output("<tr class='$bgcolor'><td><a href='armor.php?op=buy&id=$row[armorid]'>`2$row[armorname]</a></td><td align='center'>$row[defense]</td><td align='right'>$row[value]</td></tr>",true);
            addnav("","armor.php?op=buy&id=$row[armorid]");
        }else{
            output("<tr class='$bgcolor'><td>`4$row[armorname]</td><td align='center'>$row[defense]</td><td align='right'>$row[value]</td></tr>",true);
            addnav("","armor.php?op=buy&id=$row[armorid]");
        }

Good point.. I could tell the difference because I have very good color distinction.

However, I understand why some folks couldn't.

I've changed the code and the skin slightly to make this better.  (not using green/red, using white/dark grey).. Looks good (to me) in all of the skins that I believe should be used (there are some skins that I think need to be deleting)

New banner image now in the 0.9.8 code.

FW, there are a couple of changes still that I made to the 0.9.8 version but they are primarily to make things like the blog page correct while not breaking anything else and to display the 'game is full' message on servers which have that enabled.  Also, I redid the login page layout so that it matches the rest of the 0.9.8/works with the new login dragon logo that is part of 0.9.8.

Basically no changes which aren't 0.9.8 specific, but if you want me to drop them your way, let me know.

I see you picked up my change to using Small-caps ArialBlack for the page title. Smiley
