Author Topic: Several problems with installing and finding certain modules...  (Read 8547 times)

Hi,

I'm almost done setting the game Smiley Though I'm still having a few problems with installing certain modules and I can't find some as well... Could anybody please tell me where I can find these:

- A WORKING Lumberyard
- Castle (with storage room, keep, kitchen, chapel, etc)
- A module or a way to get certain races in already existing cities (I have way too many cities... That isn't fun at all) Like placing the Barbarian race into Qexelcrag.
- Something compared to the problem above... A module or a way to sort everything in sections. I saw this on Raven's LotGD... It has one city with everything in it, sorted by blades boulevard, shady lane, market street, tavern street and info alley.
- A module that prevents you from losing your money on a DK.

I'm also having a problem installing the emoticons. I did exactly what was written in the Readme (Copy all FOLDERS within this zip into your main
directory.)
When installed, it says I have to activate it in user preverances or something (in ''Emoticon Tools''). When I go to the preverances, there's nothing about it and when I click Emoticon Tools in the grotto again, the activation message isn't there anymore... Any solutions?

(If you have to use coding with PHP or something else, please give me a real noob explanation... I haven't ever tried anything with PHP yet)

The first module you describe is the Lumber Yard by Dave S.  The second is Lonny's Castle by Lonnyl.  The fourth is Streets Plus (don't remember the author off-hand).

You should be able to find these by browsing downloads or using the search utility. Smiley

Also, if you don't want all the cities, then just deactive/uninistall the cities module Wink

Oh man I feel like the worst noob at this EVER! I created so many bugs, including the deletion of Dag and Drinks, that I could almost go cry and get mad of it! I had almost finished the game and now everything goes wrong all of a sudden Cry Cry I'm already thinking about restarting... Undecided I've been working on it for days...

Oh well... Experience for later in 2 ways: I have to make a back-up file next time and I have a good view of the game and how it works. Always look on the brightside of life...

might i suggest, as is always suggested.

  • hath a test server.
  • always hath two admin characters so ye can rescue thyself.
  • only activate one module at a time. test it. play with it with a character at different levels and dk rank to see how it is affected.
  • do not install the third party modules until ye hath an understanding of how the core modules work.

Thanks, I understand now... Anyway this was some kind of ''test'' server, since the creation of new character wasn't allowed yet (well there were a few players who were too fast ^^) But it still means the work I did untill now came out a bit messy and might have to be redone... Are there ways I can get the original Dag.php and Drinks.php back? Could somebody please send them to my e-mail or something similar? (xtreme-fighterx@hotmail.com)
I might be able to fix the other things... Though I'm not completely sure...

Sorry about my last reply, it just happened and I got a bit depressed of it since I've been working on it for days... Including nightwork.

first of all, a test server should be one that is hidden from the public. only ye hath access to it.  it is also a place ye might grant access to a few others to help ye with coding and testing, but it is completely separate from the "live" server which will hath your player base.

secondly, do ye not still hath the file/tarball on thy local machine that ye downloaded with the core? the drinks module and the dag.php folder are included in that.  they simply need to be re-uploaded to the modules folder on thy server.

If you haven't deleted the zip file, just unzip it and get dag and drinks from there.  Otherwise, I would recommend downloading the zip again.  The reason is that when you unzip the archive, all files are put in the proper directory structure for you.

The problem is that I was making the site for some website, the admin of that site gave me the domain and stuff, and I had to set it. But he already placed a link to the server and before I was able to find out how to block new characters, there were already about 8 players who registered. The ''test''server could be reset after all, but yeah, it's better to have a real one indeed...

Ehm... I'll take a look... But what do you mean with ''the core''? The main logd 1.06 file? If you mean this one, I don't have it myself, but guy who did the server and all has... And I deleted it from the modules, as I already said... (dumb, dumb, dumb!)
By the way the inn (so the drinks and dag as well) were in the game on the installation of it already, or weren't they? Be right back... -----> Nope I don't have that one.

Thanks a lot all, even though this topic is rather old already... ^_^

It's been like 2 weeks ago I last visited DragonPrime, I didn't have anything to work on because the site's head-admin was inactive for a while... But since today, I finally got the game back installed and all! Well, except for the modules etc.

Just a notifier because I went a bit crazy in the beginning...
- Found out what was wrong with the Lumber Yard, the Deck of Many things and Poveas Peasant Hunt, which I screwed the game up with partly ^^ All three had the same installing method which I just found in the Lumber Yard topic... Got the emoticons working as well. Got a few possibly trouble shooting things left to do, which are downloading Lonny's Castle and Streets Plus and get them working.

I still have 1 unanswered question, which is important to me... I still need a way or a module to not lose money(+gems?) on the Dragon Kill. I found one module which could be helpful, but it wasn't what I was looking for exactly... (Funk & Wagnalls: http://dragonprime.net/index.php?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=431)
So if anybody knows where to find it, I'd be really happy Grin

You don't lose gems on the DK.

I am advising you to NOT let the players keep gold over the DK.
It is highly unbalancing and people will have always the best weapon on lvl 1 then. --> no fun.

if you insist, you can have a very small module from me that preserves the gold and gold at the bank.

but I really really have to stress that you should not allow this.

I think it's best to make a comparison to see what I like... Maybe you're right, but there are some good things about it as well. Like a few overpowered mounts which cost a hell lot of gold instead of gems only... And honestly, I don't think having a really strong weapon on level 1 is too boring, but true, sounds pretty odd..

What to do with the _MACOSX folders and it's files? You can find this in several modules like ''advance statue'', where I saw it this time... ^_^

I tested it, it works.

YET

for the gold you have to delete line 170 in dragon.php ....
even if you use "preserve gold" in the array, it gets reset hardcoded...

so well.

by the way: @core ... it should be changed, doesn't make sense this line... alter line 174 and you have achieved more AND can use this module w/o core changes...

I attached the module, so everybody else can have it. (I refuse to put it into the downloads area)
