correct me if I am wrong:

the expire_chars in the lib folder is the one that cleans everything up (read into it)... so I detected that very often I set inactive to 30 days, and people are not deleted even after 50 days...

now I think I found the origin.

If you timed out... then, and ONLY then the expire_chars is called. (login.php line 78)

it is *NOT* called from newday_runonce as it *SHOULD* be as far as I presume.

I appreciate any clearifying comments.

EDIT:

I just let the sql select run manually from the expire_chars... I was shocked how many hits there were.
Something seems not to work.

were there any changes? I can't see the error that breaks this just now. also I think this query should be run every newday_runonce. move out the setting last_char_expire and make it run on newday_runonce.

Does it work (or in this case not work) the same under both 1.0.6 and 1.1.0?

hm, might be something for my server specifically (though I have not altered files there).

I will check.

Just the question if we can put the check for expirations in the newday_runonce and leave it out of the login.php?
