Is there any place to obtain the mounts and familiars that are available in the classic server (lotgd.net)? Somethink like a .sql to load into the mounts table to have the phoenix, gryphon, cat, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I don't think the custom mounts in Classic have ever been made available for distribution, and to the best of my knowledge there are currently no plans to do so.

There are teeny tiny bits of code alluding to the effects of some Central Mounts in JCP's Mount FAQ, but as for a full release of them... I don't see that happening.

I understand that publically releasing the exotic mounts and familiars would substract flavor to the game, buy i don't understand why the basic familiars are not in the core distribution :-/

Has anyone heard about some unofficial mount pack anyway?

Btw, thanks for the answers!

There are 3 familiars/mounts included with the core distribution.  As with most other servers, the admins on Classic have developed their own unique mounts which provide an element of customization to that server.  This is much like the custom titles, riddles and drinks which have been added to that server, once again to provide some customization.

JCP, who created many of the mounts, posted a comprehensive FAQ for the Mount Editor, which you'll find here.  There has not been any package of mounts released in DragonPrime that I can recall, although a supplementary package of well designed mounts would certainly be an excellent idea.

I think it would be nice to have a list of mounts that have been found to be balanced.  I know a huge problem is that mounts can be made that are inappropriately strong.  Then what tends to happen is that we find players love their overly powerful mounts and create a huge outcry when we tell them that they can't have them anymore.

I understand the desire to keep things unique to individual servers, but I think mounts are a particular issue that should be explored in more detail. I can make up a mount and tell you what would be a good idea, but if it isn't playtested it can't be considered balanced.

It's up to you, the users of DragonPrime to do that exploring and sharing  Wink

Remember that a mount which appears to be balanced on one server could be majorly unbalanced on another server...so the baseline for a 'balanced' mount should really be in relation to an unmodified installation of the game with modest settings.  Admins can then feel free to tweak the mounts to suit their needs.

If enough quality, balanced and TESTED mounts are posted up, then we could combine them into a single sql update for those interested.

The two main custom mount creators (JCP and I) don't have access to the database of Classic. JCP is essentially incommunicado... and very, very much retired. Kendaer and MightyE have already released the "end" of LoGD and as far as I'm aware have no interest in distributing anything else from CVS...

In any case, they're not out there for reasons already alluded to. They're Classic's mounts, not LoGD's, and they're unique to Classic. In DragonCat's case, the same goes for the LadyPhoenix, and if I saw the Neon Supercabbage anywhere outside GemDust I'd be more than a little disturbed. (Just what kind of powers did you think the cabbage can grant anyway...)

In exactly the same way we haven't released the Drinks and we haven't released the extra forest creatures.

As an aside, it is an absolute PITA to copy and paste every field from the editor *anyway* and I've little inclination to do it... I'm sorry.

So for the present alternative of making your own, my suggestion is always "be gentle". Multipliers in the mount editor are EXTREMELY potent. I've told people that before and still seen them create mounts that double the players' attack - if you even multiply the attack by 1.4 you have an EXTREMELY powerful mount. You could put limiting factors into the other fields of course, but what you will find is that the top players who can successfully handle the mount will fast take off for the moon and leave the small players long behind.

Creating the mounts is about the description. And when you are testing them, do it with every aspect of the mount. If the mount's strength depends on level then test it as level 1 and test it again as level 14. If it relies on spirits, try it after resurrection. For dragon kills, set yourself to 5, then 50, then 300 and try it (after all, the mount will still be there when players reach that, and you'd hate to discover they manage to flawless on suicidal fights).

It is a lack of thorough testing that resulted in modules with massive bugs being released here. We have all created bugs, but taking the time to test properly stops 90% of them.

Mount information (specific stats) on most realms are considered game secrets. Not only that, they also are specific to that realm only. As each realm has the option to create a wide variety of them and assign them whatever stats they choose. To reveal those stats to anyone outside of that realm is really null as the information is useless outside of the realm it resides in. Same for Drinks, Custom Mounts, Custom Equipment, Custom Potions and any other item which is designed by the admin of the realm.

You could duplicate the name of a mount but thats about it - anything beyond that would have to be customized for your realm to suite your realm. One of LoGD's greatest features is the ability for each and every realm to create and design their own realm based upon the  modules added to or removed from the core game. The possibilities and variations are endless! So go and create Head of Lettuce, Wooden Stick Horses and other unique items for your realm and try to remember that grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence unless you are fooled into believing that!
