I am going to deduct experience when players die anywhere, and the code i have works, but it shows the old experience until a new day.  i am assuming i need to "unserialize" it, just like we had to do with buffs and hashorse, but i can't figure out how to.  help?

Sounds like an issue of just where in the code you've placed the experience deduction.  Another thing to try might be calling the saveuser() function.

i put it in shades.php

you can go to other pages in the underworld, and it still stays untouched.  it isnt until they go back to the village after a res/newday that it appears...

i put the saveuser function in, and it still doesnt work. Undecided

It seems that the any routine that kills you in the stock code leaves you with only one nav option - news.php.  Maybe you should maintain consistency with that and send all deaths to news.php and put the code you want executed in there?
