Hello.
I'm setting up my own LotGD server and i encountered one seriuos problem.
I've downloaded some modules, installed them, tuned them, but they still don't work - there's no such link in the game menu.

I'm using version 1.0.6, the modules i've tryed to set up : Pet Shop and Equipment Shop

Do you have Isle of Wen active? If so, it blocks most modules, including these two.

If that is not the case, then a link to your server might help us figure out what is the problem.

Yes, Isle of Wen is activated. Is there any way to patch it, so it doesn't block modules ? Newbie island is kinda useful.

Yeesssss...you _could_ patch the Isle of Wen so it doesn't block modules, but then you'd be defeating it's main purpose.  It blocks so many features so that newcomers aren't overwhelmed by the number of choices.  If you don't want to restrict them, deactivate the Isle of Wen!

Yes... you would make the Isle of Wen useless. Its whole reason for being "useful" is the fact that it is minimalist. We went carefully over what was necessary to play the game, and Eric only allowed those items.

The Isle of Wen is not nearly as unique as it makes out... it is actually Degolburg with a coat of paint and a whole lot hidden. It's important to note that by default, Wen uses the Degolburg chat (I believe) which means that they are chatting in the "normal" city anyway and interact with experienced users.

Wen actually works by blocking nearly everything by default, and then things have to be specifically set up in order to appear. You would want to edit the files themselves (not Wen) or else an additional module in order to override the Wen blocks.

However... you said that you think Wen is useful. I suspect that you actually meant the Tutor (that little imp who tells you to buy weapons, and so on). You can actually activate the Tutor and turn Wen off. This might be a compromise for you.

I *don't* recommend you do it if you have any of the following situations:
  • Multiple Cities disabled; (all the shops end up in one place and it is baffling for a new player)
  • Lots and Lots of extra shops
  • A very small player base (new players will not only be confused by all the links but there will be no other players online to help them)
