Introducing Dag's Artifact Quest!

An ancient and valuable artifact has been stolen from a local clan, and, with Dag Durnick's help, the clan's leader hires the player to go retrieve it. The player fights through increasingly difficult enemies, leading to a showdown with the evil boss himself.

But even then it's not over. In the end, we play "Lets Make a Deal"--giving the player a 1 in 3 chance at guessing which door the artifact is behind. They might get a boobie prize, or they might get beaten senseless and dumped at the village gates. If things don't pan out, they'll have to wait until next dk to try again.

Here's the real trick: this module can, optionally, offer the player membership in one specified clan, on successful retrieval of the item. You can select the clan (or switch off this behavior entirely) in admin settings.

This is a challenging quest. Not a quest that farmies should expect to win on their first time out. Buffs are very important to survival.

To do:

- More complex interior for enemy location (branching, non-linear, possibly randomized room layout)
- Possibly finding buffs/allies inside the enemy location
- Fine-tuning balance (difficulty and payoff)
- Making the name of the clan and the clan leader come from the clan selection, rather than duplicating that data in admin settings.

I wrote this for "my" clan on my server. I wanted to make my clan more shadowy and mysterious, so I closed it to applications, and made this the only way to join.

This is my first module, and I think it stands up pretty well. MUCH thanks to XChrisX for being SO generous with his time, fielding my n00b questions, and for Sneakabout for the code this was originally based on (dagbandits.php). Very little of his original code is left, but I never could have created this without his shoulders to stand on.

I looked at it, went to assign a clan in the setings, and all the clans were repeated a bunch of times.  the drop down box values looked like:

Clan A
Clan B
Clan A
Clan A
Clan C
Clan B

it what seemed to be random order.  I didn't bother going any further.
