This is my first ever attempt at coding anything

new download link: http://members.westnet.com.au/kalazaar/castellan.zip

Castellan means Guardian

basically, Summoning Mythological Guardians to fight with you

yes the 2nd and 4th buffs are quite powerful, and yes I did intend this.. however, I have seen more powerful ones.  One point I'd like to make though, although this appears to be unbalancing, it does require some thinking about when to use the buffs.  If used at the wrong time they are ineffective.  Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated (as someone who's just learning the ropes so to speak)

and a thankyou for the Specialties 4 Dummies resource page, it really helped give me a starting point  Smiley

I have tested this file on my test site, its also limited to over 100 dk's (a farmie with this not a plan lol)

Naming protocol for specialties would have this module named

specialtycastellan.php

Might want to add this.

Code:
"download" => "http://dragonprime.net/users/Kala/castellan.zip",

I don't see anywhere that you have it limited to 100 dk's.  No admin setting for it.  Nothing in the code that I can find.

Also getting this error

Code:
Parse error: parse error in www\logd\modules\castellan.php on line 214

Probably a bracket missing somewhere.

This is extremely unbalancing from the looks of it.  With the buffs they get I probably won't run it.

oops my mistake.. I had two versions I was playing with, uploaded the wrong one.. the one there now works Smiley just uploaded and double checked on my test server, it allows limiting of dk's.. and thanks I changed the download on it (forgot) .. first module and all etc.. and yes I know its unbalancing, but some will use it some won't, the choice is there for everyone to make it Smiley but thank you Dannic for your help Smiley

Heh.. well if you look at the first one you made it is Much different than this last one you uploaded.  This one is much better.

90 and 75 round buffs are still kinda long, but they are better than the 200 round buffs in the first one I downloaded.

I tried this once... later found out that using a skill didn't reduce the amount of remaining skill points...

I don't know if it's fixed now, or if it ever was the problem. I was such a beginner back then... it could've been my mistake.

Ah. Well, other than that, it was a very cool specialty. I'll think of reinstalling it. But I've got about thirty planned for creation, so it may be a bit much for me players...

Anyways, nice work.

Perhaps it's just me, but the "Sphynx" summon (level 2) is insanely overpowered.  I went from level 4 to level 13 in one game day just having 10 forest fights.  I'm going to remove this from the server until I can figure out the problem.

The original post did mention that this specialty is overpowered (and intended for 100+ DKs). If there are no coding issues/bugs, this doesn't really qualify as a "problem" with the module.

While it might not be a bug with the module, it's still something that potential users should be aware of...
