My server recently had huge MySQL problems and I lost my LOGD game.  I sent in a support-ticket and they tell me it's a coding issue.  Here's the error I get:

SELECT * FROM settings

Can't open file: 'settings.InnoDB'. (errno: 1)
Call Stack:
1: db_query("SELECT * FROM settings") called from /home/caernest/public_html/logd/lib/dbwrapper.php on line 64
2: db_query_cached("SELECT * FROM settings", "game-settings") called from /home/caernest/public_html/logd/lib/settings.php on line 38
3: loadsettings() called from /home/caernest/public_html/logd/lib/settings.php on line 55
4: getsetting("LOGINTIMEOUT", 900) called from /home/caernest/public_html/logd/common.php on line 166
5: require_once("/home/caernest/public_htm...") called from /home/caernest/public_html/logd/home.php on line 15

Now, I think the support guy doesn't know what he's talking about because when I went into manage my MySQL databases, I get errors such as:

caernest_logd1.accounts
error    : Can't open file: 'accounts.InnoDB'. (errno: 1)
caernest_logd1.armor
error    : Can't open file: 'armor.InnoDB'. (errno: 1)
caernest_logd1.bans
error    : Can't open file: 'bans.InnoDB'. (errno: 1)
caernest_logd1.bounty
error    : Can't open file: 'bounty.InnoDB'. (errno: 1)
caernest_logd1.clans

In phpMyAdmin, I click on a table name in the database, and I get an error such as:

MySQL said: Documentation
#1016 - Can't open file: 'accounts.InnoDB'. (errno: 1)

Can anybody give me advice, or give me a clue as to what to tell the support people at my host, to get them to fix it?

Thanks,
Rich

1.  Was it working fine before this, or did you encounter the errors right off the bat?

2.  Have you tried creating a new database and installing the game fresh?

3.  Are you running anything else that uses SQL, like a forum?

<edit:  Also, make sure your host has InnoDB enabled...>

What MySQL version are you using? I got this same error when we transferred hosts and moved to a new machine. The old host was using MyYSQL 4 and the new host was using version 3. After they upgraded to version 4, I did a fresh install and error went away.

The game was running smooth as silk before this.  I don't get error messages and I've had one complaint about someone else getting an error message.  (I know 90% of my members personally, so I would hear about this stuff quickly.)

I haven't tried going with a fresh game.  I consider that a "last straw" sort of deal.  I don't want to lose my current game.

I run 2 different forums.  One is older than the other.  The first is phpBB v2.0.15, which didn't have a problem when the hosts MySQL server crashed.  Once the MySQL server went back up, it went back up without a hitch.  The second is a forum that's only like a week old.  Again, it's phpBB, but v.2.0.18.  This one they had to do something to fix it so it would work.

I did a little more research into things, and came across something on the MySQL help site.  Apparently, a 1016 error is caused when an open MySQL database gets crashed and it ends up with orphaned files/tables?  Here's the place where I found the description.

Now, if I only knew how to find the server log, and change/delete the appropriate files...

Ok, I'm in the midst of researching this more, trying to find the error logs and suddenly I look and ALL of my MySQL databases are gone!!!  Talk about something that would get you horribly frustrated.  I think my server is getting hacked or something.  This is the second time in a week that their MySQL servers have been down.  And it's at least a good chunk of their site because their support-ticket area and their live-help (chatroom) is down as well, and I'm guessing I won't be getting email for a while again too.

It really sounds like your host is playing around with services, or trying to respond to issues with those services.

You should contact them (if you're able) to query your status with InnoDB.

My suggestion of installing a fresh copy of the game does not require you to lose anything from your old game.  Create a new database for it, and upload the files to a different folder.  You can run multiple copies of the game on a non-interference basis.

Well, I ended up with a complete new install.  I upgraded to 1.0.5.  Some of the players were glad to have a restart even though the game had only been running for about 2 months.  It was more for my own sanity than anything else.  I'm taking the new game a new direction as well.  I'm looking forward to it.
