Such as, someone makes commentary in a petition and the petition is then deleted. The commentary is not removed at that time. I did requisition a patch for it, but it was not accepted into core, due to this commentary being removed at Expiration of Commentary.

But the commentary won't show up in another petition, unless you assign an already existing petition number to a new petition.

well, commentary IS showing from one petition to another. it happens when the first petition with the commentary auto-deletes after being closed. And there has been no number assigning...

petition no. 123 will only show and insert commentary for the section "pet-123".
petition no. 325 will only show and insert commentary for the section "pet-325".

So, if petition 123 or its commentary gets auto-deleted, in no way there is any possibility for the commentary to show up anywhere else *unless* you changed the behaviour of the core files.

if he did this, then he would have known, what his actions might lead to - or he would have learned by now... Tongue

("TRUNCATE petitions" will not reset the auto_increment if I'm not mistaken... He must have dropped that table and then recreated it... )

I have truncated the petitions table in the past and ran into the same error. Smiley

Quote
TRUNCATE TABLE removes all rows from a table, but the table structure and its columns, constraints, indexes and so on remain. The counter used by an identity for new rows is reset to the seed for the column. If you want to retain the identity counter, use DELETE instead. If you want to remove table definition and its data, use the DROP TABLE statement.
