Users are reporting they are getting stuck at badnav.php. Its a white page with "click here" and a link to forest.php - you click the link, it just sends you back to badnav.php. I can't log out directly and if I login again in a new browswer window, it "remembers" I was at badnav, and I'm stuck there again.

On my SUSE server that kept happening because the RAM was full whenever more than 4 people were online.
Waiting for a moment where it worked and then deinstalling as many modules as possible was the temporary solution for me back then.

But I suppose there could be other reasons too.

Badnav should not provide you with a link to the forest - it should return you to the village.  This could be caused by a non-core module you've installed, or modifications you may have made to files.

You need to find out what link the players click when they get it.  This will help narrow down your search.

It's most probably the grassyfield module, which causes this... Several servers have reported this problem, but none has been able to track down the reason for this...

Actually it's more than highly likely that the problem you are encountering has absolutely nothing to do and does not pertain to the scripts. Whether it be the game ware itself, core module, or a 3rd party module provided via Dragon Prime or another source.

The solution to this escapes me for the moment but I believe I have encountered the said problem several times. Could you please let me know if upon viewing a characters biography which contains spaces in his/login name do you get a badnav?

Above you'll find the long term solutions. For the short term, here's an immediate explanation:

Your users are stuck in a "badnav loop". Go to the User Editor, find and edit each user that has this problem, and click the "Fix Broken Navs" button. They'll get one more odd message next time, and a link that should put them back in their village.

If I could be provided with a link to provide me with the information on your PHP installation (Via Private Message, you might not want to provide such information in a publicly viewable setting.) . I'll see what I can tell you.

Though I believe this is a result of your hosting provider installing and compiling PHP as a CGI Binary. If this is so superglobals such as $_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'] may return the path /bin/php rather than the actual file name being called into the clients browser. Causing bad navigation throughout the Legend of the Green Dragon game ware. Including any URL containing spaces within it's path.

If this is the problem your going to have to switch hosting providers or contact your current provider and have them reinstall your PHP Installation as a Apache Module.

Either the aforementioned solution or someone is going to have to remove the spaces in every URL within the game and force players upon signing up to provide a login name containing no spaces. Additionally removing the usage of any superglobals which reference the filename being called into the browser.

I believe that would be the correct solution, but it's been sometime so correct me if I'm wrong.

I know I'm digging back several months to this thread, but I wanted to add my server to the ones that have reported this problem. The above bad-nav situation occurs any time one of my users leaves grassyfield.

I've disabled grassyfield for the time being, but I'm curious if any more information has come up about it since this thread was current?

try changing line 64

Code:
redirect($from);

to

Code:
forest(true);

(the addnav seems perfectly ok, never had problems with this mod)

I had the same problem.. this worked! Thank you SOOO much! I spend over an hour fishing around in the .PHP code trying to figure out what it was.. this was just the thing! I thought the redirect($from) looked odd, but never thought to change it.. thanks!
