I had an idea for a race.  Instead of containing a single race, it will contain a chain of 3 or 4 races.  These will start at some relatively low demon such as a succubi and evolve, eventually, into an Arch Demons.

In addition to their regular class skills, these races will recieve skills related to their class of demon that will cost them favor to use.  Succubi/Incubi will recieve weak seductive skills without strong bonuses.  Lili/Lilu will recieve vampiric skills that drain some life.  Arch Demons will recieve summoning skills to bring lesser demons to fight for them.

These extra skills will be balanced in certain ways.  They will cost increasing amounts of favor, gold, and gems to use.  The rationale in doing this is that the powers would be coming from Ramius but that the users would also have to transcend the material world in order to use them.

The succubi skills would be very weak, comparable to some of the weaker class skills, but with the advantages that they can be used more often, if the user has the materials required, and they will not cost large amoutns of favor.  The lili skills would be balanced by costing more favor and also weakening the lilus in body (although some more expensive skills might actually strengthen their bodies.)  Arch Demon skills would cost a large amount comparable to the others.  The power to support the summonlings would also come from the demon's own body for the most part.  Apart from the occasional buffing summons, these would greatly reduce the attack and defense of the demon.

Demons would advance through their ranks by partaking in a forest event in which they could read grimoires, along with other possible options that might give them extra favor and such.  Reading these grimoires would also unlock skills for these demons.

There might also be a random chance for all gold to be sacrificed to Ramius after a forest fight and multiplied by .1 or .01 to determine how much favor to be added.

My main concern is that these races, especially the more advanced, would be far too powerful compared to other races that are available.  There is the option that I, or someone else, could develop other races like this.  I could have one chain of races that focuses on using favor, this one, one that focuses on sacrifice of gems, and one that focuses on sacrifice of gold.  Obviously the gold would have the highest costs or the weakest effects due to its abundance.

I dont' know that there would be enough time to develop a race in this manner.  You only have 15 levels. which in many cases can take you only a matter of hours or days.

Unless of course you required this over a matter of dk's instead of levels.

Yes, I forgot to mention this.  The whole idea of the race is to increase replayability.  This would take place over MANY DKs.  They might even start out weaker than other races until they build up their powers.

This is indeed a very good idea and I would not hessitate to use this on my server.
Several of those races would for sure increase the deepness and replayability of this game. Cheesy

Is anyone else interested in making a race like this?  If so, I will work on my Lilin race that I discussed.

In some ways this can already be done in an easier manner. Just make each step up in the evolution mod by mod. For example, you start with a race called Drip it has a dk level of zero and minimal powers after it's first dk or second depending on the admins choice. You then get the choice of Scab the new upgrade of the Drip race it has new special choices and is a bit stronger. The next dk, you can be Snot and so on.  This is already possible I think.
I don't know how to set up your race tree but I believe you can set up a list function like streets in the vilage and list or hook them or something under the upgradable race names....

This being said I do think if one was to do all this within one mod rather then ten mods would make for a much nicer appearance.

I'm also working on something like this by editing the racespecialreptile file. Perhaps you might find some of it's code useful for what your doing to.  Goodluck  If I get my group of four types of frogmen working with their various frogman only specials. I'll be sure to post it.
