Hi all, I haven't been around for a long time and I still haven't managed to get a new version of lotgd running for my website, but in a couple of weeks I have a bit of free time coming and I think, will finally get around to it.

Before I can move on though, there's one last modification I want to make to my existing 0.9.7 installation and even though you're probably all way past it, I am posting in the hope someone can offer me some quick help for what is hopefully a very simple question.

Basically my game is very "gem-based" (as most are, I suppose) and dwarvish characters have been proven to have an unfair advantage of obtaining gems in the goldmine without the risk of losing gems.

So basically my question is involving the best way to provide a slight chance that dwarves can lose gems in the goldmine (though perhaps still a smaller chance than other characters so they can maintain SOME racial advantage).

I've been looking at the below code, right at the bottom of goldmine.php, but I'm unsure if this would be the best place to implement something like dwarvish players potentially losing gems, or if I could make a simpler modification somewhere else in the file.

Code:
} else {
                if ($session[user][race] == 4) {
                    output("Fortunately your dwarven skill let you escape unscathed.`n");
                } elseif ($horsesave) {
                    if ($playermount['mine_savemsg'])
                        output($playermount['mine_savemsg']);
                    else
                        output("Your {$playermount['mountname']} managed to drag you to safety in the nick of time!`n");
                } else {
                    output("Through sheer luck you manage to escape the cave-in intact!`n");
                }
                output("Your close call scared you so badly that you cannot face any more opponents today.`n");
                $session[user][turns]=0;
            }
            break;

If anyone can take the time to help me out with this I'd be very appreciative! My apologies for dredging up 0.9.7 code!

You only lose gems if you die in a cave in, and that's where the dwarves have the advantage.  You can increase the possibility of a dwarf dying in a cavein by editting line 104.

Alternatively, you could add code right around 104 which would be specific to dwarves.
