Hello,

I currently have version 1.0.3 of Lotgd installed.  There is an error that says that "Premature End of Script Headers."  But before, it worked fine.  Why did this happen all of a sudden?  How do I fix this but keep all my members?

Providing the exact error message would certainly help, along with information regarding any changes you've made to files or modules you've recently installed.

Normally you should be able to trace this to the last change you made.  Of course, you test all changes on your test server, right?

Yes, I do try to check everything.  This is the exact error message from my error log:
"[Tue Sep 27 17:15:44 2005] [error] [client 66.213.14.119] Premature end of script headers: /usr/home/abcjmz/public_html/lotgd-1.0.3/superuser.php"

I was trying to install the NPC modules for Violet, Cedrik, and Seth.  If I click back when I get the Internal Server Error, this is what I see (by the way, I was activating modules):

"Performing activate on homenavs
Performing activate on topdonators
Performing activate on trading
Performing activate on usechow
Performing activate on voodoopriestess
Performing activate on altcurrency
Performing activate on amulets
Performing activate on battlearena
Performing activate on battlepotions
Performing activate on bladder
Performing activate on morgue
Performing activate on odor
Performing activate on potions
Performing activate on secondweapon
Performing activate on secretlab
Performing activate on addimages
"

And then it goes on to show PQComp modules I downloaded.  Please help.

The "Premature end of script headers" error message is probably the most loathed and common error message you'll find.
What the error actually means, is that the script stopped for whatever reason before it returned any output to the web server.

... but you will see an error like "Internal Server error" or "Premature end of script headers" because printing detailed error messages to an unknown users browser is giving to much potentially damaging information away to possibly untrustworthy people.

More than likely, as maybe someone has stated, is that you tried to edit something and an error came around, because you didn't know what you were doing.

Or perhaps, it could be the configuration of your server, but I doubt that is the case. If this is the case, it may be with execution time error. You may wish to take it in smaller chunks, then trying to activate everything at once.

I suggest getting the exact scripts, unmodified and uploading them to your server.

If you're still getting that error, deactivate all those modules and activate them one at a time.  As they're not core modules, there is no guarantee that they are error free...particularly if you've editted any files.

Thx alot,

I can't even log in to my server.  I log in and then it says Internal Server Error.  I go back and it shows the last thing I have done, which was activate the modules.  If someone knows how to use FTP well, i can give them the username and password to access the lotgd directory.  I am not sure what you mean by uploading the files again?

What Sichae means is that if you have modified any of the files in your installation, replace those files with unmodified original versions to see if that clears up your problem.

I would also caution you that giving out your account names and passwords is a dangerous practice.  If you want to allow someone to access your files, setup a restricted ftp account to that directory.

I know that giving out the master username and password is dangerous.  That is what I meant, giving out the password to the specific directory.  By the way, if you would like to see what I am talking about, go to http://www.thinksmart12.com/lotgd-1.0.3/ to see the error.  I also have another question.  If I were to install Lotgd into a whole new directory, could I use the same database?  The users and and their stats would be stored in the database, right?  I am planning to just start over in a new directory.  Please tell me your thoughts on this.

Yes, that would work.

Although, if you don't carry over the same scripts, you may run into some problems when prefs are still in the DB, but the corresponding scripts aren't.

I can't see the error, as it's the superuser pages that cause it.  While you could reinstall in a new folder, your best option is to figure out how you broke it and how you can fix it otherwise you're doomed to continue breaking and moving your files.

This is more than likely the memory size issue that most people have when first installing the game.
