I thought it was interrupting in my .9.7 server to have $^@%#$^#$^@**^@@!@ displayed when someone triggered the filter, so i changed it to simply be "*bleep*"

any chance we can get that in the core as an option or setting?

Unfortunately the way the filtering code works it replaces the masked out word with a string of symbols the same length.. we'd actually tried doing it differently in the past.

I'll look into it, but I won't promise anything, and the answer is prbably 'no' unless it's really trivial.

revisiting this one.  maybe a game setting, 3 options: 

1.  random characters (current system)
2.  Static character (IE: ******)
3.  Specific phrase, regardless of word length (BLEEP)

that should be a little easier, right?

with %$# I was at least able to guess the nasty word used =)

well, the no 3 shouldn't be that hard as far as I remember the algorithm.

I might look into it.
