How do I make my NPC's online all the time? And what state do they need to be in to do their chatter? Do I have to log them in?

Thank you in advance Smiley

They are active whenever another character is online.

For them to talk, you should set them to Seldom, or else your Commentary shall be flooded. Smiley

So what am I doing wrong if they stop talking and other characters are online?

I have a question about npcs as well I ran an npc and it would talk to it's self..  no I mean well I'd be using that account and then it'd be talking to me which I don't think it's suppose to happen...

The NPCs will talk to a $session['user']['name']. If the user's location is the same as the NPC, then it will talk. If you are inhabiting the NPC, you have thus opened the session. It will then check location, and then name, and quite possibly, talk to itself.

Owlmoons, it is all a random chance that they will speak. I have had mine in for about 3 days now, and one of them talked only twice. It all depends if people are in the same location as the NPC.

 Smiley Smiley thanks I wonder if  their could be a code to fix that slight error. Such as make the npc stop talking. While the npc user is in session. Maybe I could do that...

For all NPC codes, mainly recent:
Find:
Code:
if (get_module_setting('npcloc') == $session['user']['location'] AND e_rand(1,get_module_setting('howmuch')) < 21){
Replace With:
Code:
if (get_module_setting('npcloc') == $session['user']['location'] AND e_rand(1,get_module_setting('howmuch')) < 21 && $session['user']['acctid'] != get_module_setting("npcid")){
That will stop the NPC from talking to itself, because as long as you are in it, it won't comment at all. Smiley

I kinda rewrote another npc to make a new npc with new comments and such and he will never ever talk. And upon installing him it gave me an error that it was not assigned an id number. What did I do wrong? It shows him online from time to time, but never talks.

For commentary to work, you need an author. That is a number, that is linked directly to the acctid.

I have no idea why it would not set a new one... perhaps just stick with the ones out there, and modify them as needed.

this will probably look really dumb, throwing something into a thread that hasn't been used since august, but if it gets back to the thing..i unno

in owlmoons version o' the game there, they talk even when no one else is there.  you mentioned they'll do that when another user is there.  but they go without another user being in that town.  and its a hell of alot to take out, even out of boredom, from the comment mods
