Its probaly posted here, but i've missed it-

What is with the perma dead message? How do players get, why, and what is happening?

The Message:
Quote
ACK!! Somehow this user would end up perma-dead.. Not allowing DK to proceed! Notify admin and figure out why this would happen so that it can be fixed before DK can continue.

And lastly, what do i do to fix it?

I got it when I killed the dragon with a level 18  test character with a non-existant race (I was messing around and put something like "Lemon" in the race field).

I think the message is meant to be used if a module author makes a permadeath module (ie. you'd be able to play with a character that has higher stats and better advantages than the 'non-permadeath' players, but if you die by your own fault you'd be permanently dead and never come back).

Okay, the reason why a Permadeath happens, is because your character, when HP is assessed, has less than 140, I believe it is. Once that happens, your character will be in a state of Perma DEath, known as Permanent Death. You will continue to be dead, until your hitpoints are made more than 0.

Code from dragon.php:
Code:
  // Sanity check
   if ($session['user']['maxhitpoints'] < 1) {
      // Yes, this is a freaking hack.
      die("ACK!! Somehow this user would end up perma-dead.. Not allowing DK to proceed!  Notify admin and figure out why this would happen so that it can be fixed before DK can continue.");
      exit();
   }
To fix, merely make the person Max Hitpoints more than one.

Thanks, but i gathered that much. But why does a player's mayx hitpoints go below 0? And how can i stop that?

Only had this problem eveyr now and then before .3, but now, more and more players have it when they try to dk.

And when that does happen, i assume it doesn't let thier hitpoints below 1, as when i do go to fix it, it is the same as it would normaly be.

It is mainly because Kendear inserted that check as per 1.0.3.

Upon hitting the change, the session will die, as will the script... therefore, the script will NOT go on, until the problem is fixed. As stated in the script, it is a hack.

It used to happen, because when a user DKed, it's HP would be subtraced 10 per level they gained (14). So, if a user had less than 140, they would get permadeath.

With the new version, I guess some logic might be off, in the new way or working HP, due to the new Global HP change module.

I have the mod and shall NOT be activating... lest I upset the shear fun of trouncing players with high HP. Tongue

Even without the mod, the assessing of HP upon DK has changed majorly since 1.0.2.

He said, he killed the dragon with a level 18 char... So he lost 170 maxhitpoints after defeating the dragon... That may be much more, than he really had and so he will go below 1 maxhitpoint.
