I have a couple questions regarding LOGD and possible Postnuke compatability.

Please bear in mind that I am a novice when it comes to coding PHP, especially in regards to using MySQL along with it.

1. Has anyone ever done any work on getting LOGD and Postnuke to work with the same user database ? Is this even possible ?

2. Has anyone ever made a Postnuke block that can display daily news and/or player rankings from LOGD ?

I can see how the 1st request might be problematic but the 2nd one should be doable with some of the same PHP code that the game uses. If I had to use postwrap or something that would be fine.

If anyone has a block premade I would really appreciate it if you could share it. If something like that doesnt exist I would be very grateful if someone could help me with making a simple php script that could pull the pertinent data to display in a block.

Thanks in advance.

All it requires is for you to activate the rss module and grab the feed through your postnuke cms.  You can see an example of what it would look like on my site in my signature.  It is using phpnuke but it should be about the same for postnuke.

Forget even trying to get the user databases all in one.  LoGD uses some unique methods of session handling and password handling that are not compatible with anything else really.  It would take some major modification of one or the other.  Others have looked into it as well and probably come to the same conclusion that I did.  Not possible to do without a rewrite of one of the systems.

Well, I'm *might* make it so LotGD and PN have the same login.  It actually shouldn't be as hard as some people make it out to be (including myself previously), I've been modding a lot of programs lately...

For some reason when I tried that I just got an empty block. I tried both the RSS block types and they both gave me the same thing. Am I using the correct URL ?

http://my.domain.com/logd/runmodule.php?module=rss&feed=news

When I put this in my browser I got the RSS XML output so I assume it is working.

I was reading around the postnuke boards and I came across some mention of the newer 'magpie' type of RSS which is basically all XML and is not supported by PostNuke yet.  Is this the type of RSS that the RSS module spits out ?
