I have some petitions that are closed and over 77 days old.  Is there something preventing them from being deleted automatically after 7 days?

Depends on when you closed them... if you closed them 6 days ago, they won't be deleted until tomorrow.

Run this SQL:
Code:
DELETE FROM petitions WHERE status=2
Should get rid of all closed petitions.

Robert scratches his head and wonders.
LotGD v1.0 is only 13 days old - how can petitions be 77 days old?
If your running any pre-release of 098 - those are totally NON-Supported - We suggest an upgrade to the released version.

Petitions auto delete only if they are set as CLOSED.
Besides that, there is also a manual delete feature to rid those you no longer need.

Yes, it is 13 days old, BUT 98 has been open since 9+ Months, and people could have had petitions from anytime in between. Smiley

As for the Manual Delete, no, there is not a feature for it. You can either do it through SQL, or wait for them to auto-delete.

There has been a manual delete for petitions since v097 no need to run a sql for what is provided in game.

* Sichae doesn't see it anywhere in PRs or 1.0.0+

I really have no idea where it is...

Not in viewpetiton.php, which is the logical spot for it. Although, there is a $op == "del" condition statement, but no where to link to it from within the script.

Suggestion:

Add in viewpetition.php, line 241 of 1.0.1 Release:
Code:
addnav("Manual Deletion","viewpetition.php?op=del&id=$id");

Line 44 needs to be changed:

invalidatecache("petition_counts");
To
Code:
invalidatedatacache("petition_counts");

Eric deliberately removed the ability to manually delete petitions.

This was done because at one point someone with petition ability abused that to remove something that shouldn't have ben removed.  He'd rather have the petitions around for 7 days after closing and thus available for auditing if necessary.

That stub code which was still in viewpetitions has now been commented out, but not yet removed.  It'll probably vanish shortly and I strongly recommend that you not allow this sort of ability.

Imagine if you will, what would happen if someone sent a petition complaining about one of your admins and they happened to see it first and 'conveniently' removed it.

* shudders *

I suspect I know of whom may have abused this. Suffice to say they are no longer on staff at Central.

Ah, okay then.

I just saw the delete petitions code, and decided to write a link to it. If it is to be removed, then my modifications will make no sense in the next release, and will be erased upon updating.
