Hey All,

I asked once about a slot machine and someone said there was already one available in the Tavern, but I couldnt find it, only the dice and such...

Anyways, I was thinking about making a progressive Slot Machine, which could be placed in any building....

Basically, the slot machine would have several levels of returns...but as usual, the house usually wins....

The difference between this slot machine and most is that it has a progressive jackpot.  All money put into it or paid out is accumulated....so if 1,000 people put 10 gold coins into it before someone finally hits the jackpot...the person who hits the jacpock will get the jackpot, plus all the money other people have put into the machine.

Whenever someone sits down at the machine it will display the current jackpot total.

------------ SIDE NOTE:

In Las Vegas, NV the progressive machines are usually distributed between casinos...that way they accumulate more money....

What are peoples thoughts on setting up a progressive slot machine that is distributed between all registered LotGD servers...the balance will be stored on 1 server, and then all other machines add or subtract from that server.....whenever someone wins, on any server, the balance is reset back to the initial jackpot and the progression starts over again.

Moejo and I are working on a slot machine to put in our casino for the Oak Street Module..... Actually this is the last peice of code before release.   Except 1 change, since there were no slot machines in the time that this game is suposed to be taking place, we have changed it to a "stones" game.  It works the same as a slot machine except stones with carvings will be tossed out onto the table and winning figured from there.   Now to make it progressive we haven't even thought of that.  Although that could be a neat feature, as well as making it work between servers would be cool.  However that would be quite a challange to implement, as well as the potential for a huge jackpot could really unbalance things for 1 player.   But slots as well as blackjack, will be coming.

Making the slot machine "progressive" is very easy, but yes...making it distributed would require a little more work.

Also, take a look at my distributed LotGD post in the new feature lab.

If there is enough interest I'll go ahead and make a progressive slot machine....err stones game.  I've already got the statistics and pay-offs calculated.

As far as game balance....yes, its basically taking small amounts of money from multiple players and giving it to 1 lucky individual.....no harm in that, since its entirely random.  Its not like players could use it to transfer money...because its unpredictable...
