I got a slight problem with my site which never happened befor. since I uninstalled all my modules in 1.0.0 I've found my server to be chugging along very slowly taking about 10 seconds or more for every page to load, I've reinstalled and uninstalled all the modules and still I feel the affects. What could be the problem with the serious slowdown?. I'm a bit stumped and would appreicate any advice.

No I'm not registered with LoGDnet, I know that causes some slowdown so I avoid it like the plauge. Speed is a high high priority and without it any server is junk.

Edit: Also strangly I can't find what the fix was for the do_hook issue here. if anyone could please tell me what repain code was I could fix all the gliched modules I got since some of my mods are going unupdated by the creator. thanks in advance.

I've got that problem too. I'm running v1.0.0 on my localhost and the pages are generated about 2 seconds when there is only 1 player online.

At the end of each dohook function in the modules right before the last brace ending the function there should be the following.

Code:
return $args;

As far as a slowdown.  I got it too but that was because I was running the debugger along with phpnotices and the email on errors.  After turning those off it was back to normal.

You both should also check if you are collecting untranslated texts. This will in general cause the game to run quite slowly...

nope.  I'm not.  works great as long as I don't turn on all of the debugging stuff.

Well I found out I'm collecting untranslated text. but I looked around and can't find how to disable or prevent it from collecting, nore do I know how to rid of the large amount I have. Suggestions?. (Somehow I'm expecting to go into phpmyadmin, which is bad since I have no idea how to operate the thing to any real level of usefulness.)

I don't have debug, phpnotices or mail errors on, so I don't see why I'm moving so slow. if I refresh a page it takes only about 1 or 2 seconds only, which it should be fast. Thanks for helping out guys I appreciate it, and thanks dannic for the code to fix the do_hook problem.

check your game settings.  There is an option for turning on translation.  You may want to turn it off.

Well I found that but there is a minor issue I'm surprised I don't understand. on this message:

Maximum number of players below which automatic untranslated text collection will turn on

It says it will turn it on anyway if the player count meets the requirement, and since my brain is as bright as a burnt out bulb today I can't figure out if I should set the number ot be radiculously high or at zero. Ussualy I'm a lot smarter than that but for some reason I can't think for crap today. I mean look I orignaly posted this thread in the forum ment to have discussions ahout THE FORUM!. You see what I'm getting at, the lights are on but no body is home today.

Also how do I purge the exsisting ones on my DB?, cause just turning it off doesn't solve that it's still gonna move slow do to the amount already in it.

I *thought* that was off by default.. I'll have to check that.  Checked and it should be behaving that way.  Did find a small bug which could have caused this and fixed it however.  Will be available in 1.0.2

As for removing it, go into the grotto and use the raw sql too.  If you don't have the raw sql tool, go into the user editor and grant that power to yourself (since yuo're the megauser, you can).

Then in that tool do
Code:
delete from untranslated

I have also clarified the wording on that option.

U have set that option to -1 on my default server... otherwise it would turn on, when the last player logged out (it should turn off, when anyone logs in but you never no... Tongue )

Thanks a million guys, I've deleted the untranslated texts and noticed a massive increase in page load times. went from 10 sec load down to a wopping 3 seconds, and when I upgraded to 1.0.1 it went down to about 2 seconds per page. Glad that nightmare is over.

Umm you know what, I checked, and I'm still getting untranslated texts. I've tried having a really high number, than 1, 0 and -1. Nothing they all still generate the dang things, so everyday I'm gonna have to run that command to clean out my server. really sucks.

Try this...

Code:
UPDATE settings SET value = 0 WHERE setting = 'collecttexts'
