pretty lame module i had for .9.7, but i think it has potential.  suggestions are welcome.  it's a tunnel which gives users a random chance of getting out of the underworld.

hehe, this is funny.

I converted something like this for Strider a while ago. He has the copy of it, and it is NOT in my shared folder this time.

But, I shall take a look. Although, Strider's wasn't lame. Tongue

Installed this cause I always thought it was just so darn boring in the shades, nice to have a way to get back to life by chance.

When I tested it though I am getting this:

Quote
You approach Hades  who stands before the mouth of the tunnels.
You are lonely, and miss {lover}, you ask if there is anyway to return to earth.

I know {lover} should be replaced with something... (Seth? Violet?) or does it require the marriage/flirt mod to pull a person's name?

All it needs is a nice little SQL in there, to get the correct name. ^_^

Code:
if ($session['user']['marriedto'] == '0'){
   $lover = translate_inline("Mother");
}elseif ($session['user']['marriedto'] == "4294967295"){
   $lover = ($session['user']['sex']?"Seth":"Violet");
}else{
   $sql = "SELECT name FROM ".db_prefix("accounts")." WHERE acctid='".$session['user']['marriedto']."'";
   $res = db_query($sql);
   $row = db_fetch_assoc($res);
   $lover = $row['name'];
}

I do! Take a cup of tea, put one shot of burbon/whiskey in it. Drink one or two (make sure it's hot). You'll fall asleep and wake up with your throat feeling better Tongue

My grandma's old fashioned remedy, and my sore throat always felt better... but then again a shot of whiskey at age 12 makes EVERYTHING feel better -lol-

On topic though... the tunnel has a few glitched. It's doing a random switch when you click "Take Tunnel" and most of those have nothing set, so on most of the random chances you are just refreshing the page and not taking you out of the shades.

example:
Code:

   case 1:
   case 2:
   case 3:
      output("`2You start climbin up the tunnel.  It begins to get more narrow, until you find yourself stuck!`n");
      output("You try to move but you can't.  You can hear `4Hades `2laughing at you from down below `n");
      output("`4Hades `7grabs you by your legs and pulls you out and tells you to get lost.`n");
      addnav("Back to the graveyard","graveyard.php");
      break;
   case 4:
   case 5:
   case 6:
   case 7:

Or at least on my version it is.... just thought someone might want to know Smiley

Using multiple cases, like that is just preventing the coder from writing X statements, when they can write one. Although, this will cause for a lot of repeating.

That is why Strider's wasn't lame Wink His had stories.

* Sichae hands sixf00t a book full of short stories

Beef it up a bit Tongue

if you do it before 4 am. EST, go for it. It was always my intent to come up with different cases to fill in all those blanks, so knock yourself out.

I'll download it now.  I should have it done soon.  And instead of uploading it to my shared folder, I'll just email my suggested version to you.

Well, I was going to email it to you, but your email isn't listed.  I haven't uploaded and tested this, since I'm at work.  I hope all the brackets are closed nicely, and such.

With the 10 cases, it breaks down as such:

4 times out of 10, you flat out fail to escape via the tunnel.  Each of these four cases has it's own story.
3 times out of 10, you end in a location where you must fight a creature to assure your escape.  They are, Minotaur, Yama King (Far East module reference, anyone?) and Cerebrus.
2 times ouf of 10, you manage to escape with no hassle.  One of those times, you have a chance of finding a gem.  Each of these three has a unique story.
1 time ouf of 10, there is an alignment check, if installed.  Otherwise a random variable is substituted for your alignment.  Positive alignment means an Angel rescues you.  Negative alignment means Ramius drags you down.

Now, the fighting should work properly, but it isn't tested, and I've never tried to insert fighting into a module in the Underworld.

I would have had this up hours ago, but we had galactic badness at work.
