My first module! Cheesy
http://dragonprime.net/users/blarg/ferryman.zip

This is a simple forest special in which the player finds a ferryman in the forest and can choose to cross the river or not, which will result in a variety of outcomes (good and bad). This was based on an idea of Muad's (you may have run into him on Central or Dragoncat).

Also, it's version.txt and readme.txt compatible! Wink

Feedback welcome and appreciated, as this is my first foray into PHP and LoGD module coding..

Thanks,
-blarg-

It looks very well documented. Although, might I suggest tabbing?

One Suggestion: Using Shorter Variable names, will cut down a lot... and make it easier if you ever wish to update/add more.

Another Suggest: During the Part, when you get off the boat on the other side, it states that I lost "1 gems." Now, you can edit that code:
Code:
output ("`&drop `%%s gem%s`&!", $lostgems,translate_inline($lostgems>1?"s":""));
To make it so it displays the plural s or not.

You, Arune and Zanzaras all have these very odd coding habits/styles. It is just... odd.

But, good work. ^_^

Heh. Two coding habits that I doubt I'll be stopping any time soon. I've always been a spacer and very verbose, be that with the comments in the code, or with my naming conventions.. Smiley

Sichae, this is the wrong way to do the gems things.
better is
Code:
output ("`&drop `%%s %s`&!", $lostgems,translate_inline($lostgems==1?"gem":"gems"));

Kendaer, is basically ends in the same thing... either way it should work. I can't see any huge difference between them... actually... I can now.

Gems is easier to translate, than doing s. Hmm... perhaps I shall go off and fix all of mine.

Not really holding the translators in mind, with my way.

Not all languages pluralize every word with an S.  For example, some french words use 'aux' instead.

i want to take this opportunity and thank blarg for his work on this module.  i ambushed him with an idea and used my clan brother influence to get him to do this.  then i emailed him some text and he did the rest.  with all the stuff he does in his life he took time for me!  sniff sniff

but seriously .... he has done a great job on this mod and i (for one) like it.  not that i am biased in any way, shape or form.   Wink

thanks blarg!

Heh. Well, you're most definitely welcome.. It's been (and continues to be) a fun learning experience..  Smiley

Anyway, my apologies for the delay.. Had various things to deal with this weekend and didn't have as much time as I thought I would.. It's all good now, though, and I've got version 1.1 of this module available.. Same link..
