Alright.  figured I needed a faq module that was a little more robust than 5 faqs.

This will allow you to configure your own faq's to show up in the faq.  It allows for unlimited faqs to be added along with unlimited questions per faq.

You can enable the faqs as needed along with the questions and answers.

I've tested it and can't see any glaring bugs.

Download from here

The code isn't the prettiest and needs to be cleaned up a bit but it works great as far as I can tell.

  • Supports Check Module Version
  • Add unlimited Faq's to your site Faq
  • Add ulimited Questions to each Faq
  • Make Faq Admin readable only
  • Enable you to place Faq on your index page for everyone to see

Version 1.41

I like this:)
Just a few things:
you should replace all " ' " with " \' " to prevent DB errors
and then put it back when you get the data
And emoticons would be nice:P

you mean in the sql statements?

I can do up a emoticon faq but it may be different than the one you use since I do my emoticons a slight bit differently than what lonny has in the original file.

ya, in the SQL statements:)
With the FAQ's I meant being able to put them into the FAQs themselves.
If you look at the old site FaQs I did and the random quotes module, you can put clickables in, and use an array with ' foreach() ' for less script sizw

I think I know what you are talking about.  I'll have a look at the other module you made and see how to incorporate this idea as well..  I don't have time to do it today though.  Probably be a couple days.

I'm very curious what sort of objprefs you are expecting to have related to faqs and faq questions.   Just asking since you included the support for it in your faq editor.

truthfully, I have no clue.  Wasn't sure they were needed.  Figured someone would yell at me about them if they weren't.

Got the idea from another module and I honestly can't remember which one.

If they really aren't needed and are just wasting space in the db please say so and I will get rid of them.

Oh, they won't use any space unless someone creates a module and uses them at which point there is no wasted space.. I was just wondering what you'd forseen as a possibility Smiley  Looks like the answer is 'nothing.   I was just copying and pasting' Smiley

I'm betting you were cribbing from the drinks module or the claneditor module, yes?

CortalUx,

Can you give me an example of something that might break the sql?  I've tried the things I could think of and didn't break it.

The only things I know of are apostrophes.
I normally always put a slash in front of them, using str_replace.
I've had a problem with \' appearing with the elections mod for example.
Also- the worldmap won't work with cities with ' in the name.

well I do have this running on mine and it is similiar to the banner code I use.  I haven't had any problems as of yet with the banner code so it should be ok.

If someone manages to break it let me know and how you broke it.  I'll fix it.

Personally, I'd like this, and the original FAQ to both allow-anonymous and display on the main login page, so new players can start with the FAQ right away.  Once you get in the game, there are tons of navs, and I'm not sure new players are seeing the FAQ.

let me see if allow-annonymous would do it.
