Is it possible we can limit the amount of petitions able to be put in by one user or one IP address. In this case this person is banned and cannot login.. BUT! he sat down and petitioned me 108 times today. Or maybe add a check mark system so you can check them off and hit close...Closing 108 petitions 1 by 1 takes forever.

An example:
Unhandled

Undoubtedly this asshole kept clicking until he got tired.

Only thing I can figured he opened this in a seperate browser? So he could keep hitting back? Not sure how he could do 30+ per minute.

Once done:
Petitions: 0|0|0|0|0|0|4|111

And just so it wont happen...His IP is now denied to my webserver... But really there should be a way to prevent this.

Hey Arune - great idea!

I agree - a simple check to see if user is banned is a good idea - IF YES - petition would show YOU ARE BANNED message and disable the ability to write and send a petition.

Also, I dont why the commentary in the motd is there - I remove it for the same reason -  - unsavory non players used it to post crude and unwanted messages.

You'd need a failsafe in there, to prevent blocking communications from someone unintentionally banned.  Maybe a tracking mechanism to limit banned ips to one or two petitions before locking them down.

how about a certain number of petitions per specific time frame.  Say 5 petitions in 30 minutes.

I like that idea of Dannic's. I know how you feel Arune. A while back a player got a perm ban on my site, and on a site I'm Tech Admin for, and he dicided today he wanted back in, and sent in 285 petitions. I emptied the table to get rid of them, after answering the ones that really needed help. But yeah, totally agree.

FYI: His name is Brendon, and his IP is 195.173.16.65.

Just in case anyone wants to keep a check on it.

Brendan is banned from many servers, including DragonPrime.  Anybody talking to him should be extremely cautious what information they give him.

Yes. His excuse this time was his account was hacked when he was away to his mother's funeral...for 3 months. That wouldn't be so bad, if his mother hadn't died about 6 months ago. Then he sent in 285 petitions with 'let my in you fuckin fanny or i'll send in petitions for 17 hour staright' or as about as close as it comes.

That's sad...he doesn't have any more productive ways to spend his time?

I disagree as banning is always the LAST step - A reasonable admin/staff would have been in contact with the player trying to resolve the issue beforehand - - banning is usually done as a LAST means to rid an unsavory/unruly player.  I dont see how a player would unintentionally be banned - except maybe by enept admin.

Nope he doesn't.  He has a goal of getting on other peoples servers as admin and wrecking havock.  He just left me alone fortunately.

Limiting the petitions to a certain number per time frame would hopefully allow those with genuine problems to still be able to submit.  Of course I would make it per user or even selectable between  user and server wide.

Oh, and I agree with robert on this as well.  If they are banned there isn't any reason they could possibly have for sending petitions.

He has also gone by names of Coslo_ and Archmage Big B. Just FYI.

I to think the time frame per petion would be a good idea.

If its a poll, i vote FOR it. Cool

Yep, he was reported on my server by users because he was sending them mail trying to recruit players for his server.  His 7 day ban just went forever!

Yep thats the guy with me.

Exact same guy. Told me he bought the computer from someone else and they were banned. Stupid enough I told him if that was the case he'd have a different IP and there wouldn't be a ban.

So he had to give me this BS about how he lives in the same house.... Yadda yadda anyway.. The guy is a pain in the rear.

I think I originally banned him for sending some really vulgar emails and constantly petitioning to be an admin.

That's interesting. He recently was messaging me here asking if I needed players for my server (which I don't since I only use it for testing). I'm glad I declined his offer.
