firefox seems to work extremely well for this mac user. i alternate between firefox and safari.

visited the astalavista site...no popups or software install attempts detected.

i know, become a reformed pc user like i did...all hail the mac!

it costs too much.

that is why the gods invented credit cards....

not really when ye factor in how many times ye are going to upgrade a pc vs the mac over, say a three to four year period.

not to mention, if i have a problem with this piece of equipment it will, in most instances be replaced on the spot at the apple store. no waiting to ship back to a central location, leaving it at the local comp-usa, or if ye are a "do it thyself person" going to purchase the hardware and installing the latest and greatest.

don't get me wrong, i was a network admin for 18 years... i have built far more pc's than i can count.

having a mac makes far more sense to me these days.

I might buy a Mac Mini just to have one, but I'd never fully go Mac.  I've done video editting on Macs, and I must say that Final Cut Pro is the best in the business.  My high school yearbook and newspaper, we did it all on Macs.

But I can't really game on a Mac.  I can't upgrade my hardware.  Proprietary hardware is a bad thing.  People scream about Microsoft's business practices, but Microsoft doesn't force you to purchase Microsoft software only.  The old IBM computers didn't force you to buy IBM parts.  IBM clones were actually more popular.

But Apple hardware must come from Apple.  The computers are designed to piss in the face of upgrade fanatics.  And while the new IBM processors in the Apple PC's (I still find that humorous that IBM now makes Apple processors) are great.  The current iteration of Apple computers are great products.

But they are certainly not for me, nor would I ever seriously support a company that stands by proprietary hardware in the PC market.

Meh, I luff my PC. Built it myself, with my own money. It is my pride and joy.

I wouldn't dare go Mac, as to update a Mac, you need Mac parts. If my Mac breaks down, I have to talk to Mac people, and they are savages*.

*This is not based off of any knowledge of the Tech Support Staff of Macintosh

* Arune hugs his G4 laptop.

Duel booting NetBSD + OS X.

Love it.

Course I also have 4 PC's at home...But when your a UNIX/Linux user...You have far less preference. As a Linux user...I could care less if its proprietary. Why upgrade your mac? I have a 30mhz mac 68k that will run Mac OS 8. They run forever.............

World of Warcraft + Powerbook G3 300mhz = Smooth as silk.

(Just an FYI the Powerbook G3 300 mhz was built in 1999)

Show me a 6 yr old PC that will run a MMORPG that has come out in the last 6 months.

I personally dislike both. Linux is the way to go. Mac is fairly useless in my opinion (no offense mac users! Tongue) its also very expensive, when you could get the same power PC for a lot less money. PC is just... its microsoft Wink, My opinion anyway...
