Heya all, recently I upgraded from pre9 to pre13, and added a host of new mods as well as the new ones that came prepackaged.

This was a HUGE update!  I have a userbase of about 50 that haven't been on in months, simply because there was nothing new.

I'd like to be able to email them all from logd to tell em what's up, like a newsletter thing, and I'd like the option of making it opt in/opt out...

Does something like this exist, is it easy to do?  Or should I whip open me php book and try and figure it out?

Thanks

Code:
SELECT emailaddress FROM accounts WHERE laston > '2005-01-01'
That shall bring up all of the email addys of folk that haven't been on since the new year. Then, just open an Email, and CC it to all of them.

Its actually very simple to write a mass mailer mod for logd... But in the same regard, before I went and sent mail to tons of people I don't know personally.. I'd ask permission. Which would probably mean, don't worry about the 50 and get new users.

Just my opinion.

* Sichae shrugs

I don't like writing email mods to go out from the game... icky... I just stick to my olde Gmail to send out important notices... if any.

Smiley  I understand the concern.  Actually the userbase consists of mostly people I've talked to online and perused a forum with.  They're people who enjoyed the game at one time and I just wanted to give them a heads up.

Some of them, of course, aren't.  What I was thinking was sending out an email to them with a link to add to the newsletter if they wanted to.  So the first email is sent to everyone, but the subsequent ones are not.

I didn't want to cc their names in, because then I send out a group of 50 email addresses that they may want private to everyone on the list.

Bad idea to do it altogether?  I dunno, but I'm pretty concious about spam, it's why I only wanted to send one out to everyone, and then leave well enough alone:)

Code:
SELECT emailaddress FROM accounts WHERE laston > '2005-01-01'

simply do it that way, and fetch all email adresses one by one...

do it with a "while" - loop or something like that...
