This was one of the MANY half completed modifications i did for .9.7 that i am working on converting in full to the new system.  Using lonnyl's basic alignment mod, this module will either let you slither to the norm shades, or if you have been good, you will ascend to Valhalla.

http://dragonprime.net/index.php?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=1139

I realize i will get chewed out for not making everything in 1 file and modular, but we'll work on that later.  unload AncientHall.php and valhalla.php to the root game directory, and valhallamod.php into the modules directory, install and activate.

This is far from complete, but i am being a little over-zealous and want to get some feedback right off with it.

Props to Niksolo for converting the files from the graveyard and shades.  any input in story additions and bug fixes and features, please feel free to unleash the creativity.

This sounds like a great idea.  And instead of haunting people, will you be appeal to appeal to the gods and bless your allies while in Valhalla?

While in Valhalla, will you fight different creatures other than the Shades creatures?

just waiting for that ability.   it's my impression we will be able to do that in preR13.

essentially.   Though you can probably do that now with the limit imposed by the current pr12.

Just don't set those creatures to the shades or forest.  look for those flags when you are pulling from the creatures.  Obviously you don't want them if they are set.

Later you will be able to specify which ones will appear by setting a pref for them.

Ok..... tried this module....

First this may work well on windows servers, however on Linux the files are case sensative and we have Valhalla.php called as both valhalla.php and Vallhalla.php.  Ancienthall.php is also capitalized (I could not get far enough into the module to see is this is standard across all links).  I also could not find if there is something equivilent of 'torment', there may be, but could not get into it far enough to tell.  Also there propably needs to be a hook for talking to the dead from the world of the living......

ugh, yeah, i know.  i test them all on my computer and then upload them.  I was leery about the capitals, but he assured me he kept the cases consistent.  perhaps it was me then who didn't match his case.  will be fixed later on tonight hopefully.

ok, fixed all the cases to lower case.

instead of tormenting souls, you find someone to exchange stories with.  still uses the same fields from the graveyard though.

How about instead of exchanging stories.... "torment the damned" or something less ummm..... badwordish.....

And good to see you working on 98 mods now.....  welcome back to the world of the living!  Tongue

Ok... now I get the error.....

SELECT * FROM creatures WHERE ancienthall=1 ORDER BY rand(270919672) LIMIT 1

Unknown column 'ancienthall' in 'where clause'

I take it we need to do something with the creatures table.......

:runs off to look at the code:

mod spellcheck for apache will fix this from ever happenning, as well as fix botched URLs   like, sixf00t4.com/dragom will direct to sixf00t4.com/dragon now.  pretty sweet.

ok, all in one file now.  changed the file name to valhalla.php  you can delete the other ones.

had a bug where it didn't like the "c=" and replaced:
Code:
runmodule?valhalla&loc=valhalla

with:

Code:
runmodule?valhalla&lovalhalla

so i just changed it to "location="

also having a bugger of time figuring out how to hook into creatures.php to add valhalla creatures.  hopefully kendaer or someone will shed some light onto that for me.  but for the mean time, here is the single file version.

Code:
"prefs-creatures"=>array(
"valhalla"=>"Does this Creature exist in Valhalla,bool|0",
),

And later, for your "forest" area, call all creature ids that have that set to one, and limit 1

If you didn't understand anything in the above post, don't try to attempt anything suggested.
