I was just wondering if there are any mods that would integrate LORD to forum software such as invision power board. Mainly using the user database so that there is no multiple logins.  Anybody know?

LORD, or LoTGD?  Two very different animals, and this forum deals strictly with the latter.

People have tried in the past, with varying degrees of success (with v097), but I don't know if anybody fully achieved the integration.  There hasn't been any released code that I've seen.

I haven't heard of anyone trying it with v098, although there is a mod to add a forum to the game.

There is a project page on Sourceforge that is claiming to do that very thing.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/lotgdnuked/

They have no home page, and no files listed.  I have no idea how far they've come in their project.

What you describe is quite possible, to use the same SQL table for account info for both.  However, there are some disadvantages to this.  How do you seperate moderators on the two systems?  What if you wish to just ban or punish someone for forum actions, or game actions?  And what if someone merely wants to post on the forums.  By registering, will they be creating a character in the game?

What about the automatic deletion of accounts in the game for players at level 1 for X number of days?

Etc.

Just a few things to consider.  And for the record, I highly recommend phpbb over Invsion any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.  It's free, has better mods, and is all around better.  I personally use phpbbfm on my boards.

Thanks for the great and quick responses! Really appreciate it.  Too bad though,  I would of loved to see it integrated somehow.

Noting that project was registered near the beginning of July 04 (before the first prerelease of .98), has absolutely no content added, and has been idle since it's creation date, I doubt it has progressed beyond "Hey, let's try this, k?"...

It's very possible.  I just tried looking via Google to see if they had a different home page, and couldn't find anything.  Some people with other webpages neglect their sourceforge pages.

I didn't start the sourceforge thing but I did look into this myself.  It is extremely difficult to do with the way LoGD is set up.  You would need to do this with the final release and not beta.

I gave up.  Too much work to maintain.

drakeblackwell is a registered user here, he had started a thread to try and get this off the ground.  but like dannic said, it's hard to do.  you need to edit core files, and that is hard to do with prereleases.
