As someone new to the LotGD scene, please forgive this question.

I have read through several of the module theads on this board.  However, not every module ever created for LotGD has a thread associated with it.  Nor do the threads always give me a very good idea what the module is like, or the quality of the mod.

If you were to start a new LotGD game tomorrow, which modules would you want to install?

If I were to start a server today, I would have two copies of the server:  The 'live' server, where your players play and a 'dev' server on which you test and develop modules.

That way you can install a module, evaluate it, tweak it and decide whether or not you keep it.

A list of 'must have' mods would be near impossible to compile, as each module affects game balance differently, and different combinations of modules affect the balance differently as well.  Also, sysops and users have their own likes and dislikes, so the modules I happen to like might not be right for your server...

I understand that largely it is a matter of taste.  And I appreciate your advice.  However, you do have some experience in running some of these modules.  Which ones seem to work well together?

Are there modules that you feel improve game balance?

That alignment system sounds really appealing to me.  Are there other modules (forest events, quests) that take advantage of the alignment module?

Well, as one of the Coders of it... the Lonny's Castle(Village), Temple of Shadow and Light(Gardens with Forest Event), The Prancing Ninny(Forest Event), Slayer's Guild (Village with Forest Event)...

There are a bunch of them... and more of those you can configure to balance them nicely.

Core mods are for the most part, balanced. Most of the mods out there, you can balance easily yourself... check out any of my mods or Lonny's.

There is another thread in here where I mention a bunch of them... http://dragonprime.net/index.php?board=17;action=display;threadid=1291

If you didn't understand anything in the above post, don't try to attempt anything suggested.
