Using the built in translation tool, or Nightborn's Translation Wizard is even better.
32  Coding Support / v0.9.7 Technical Help / Re: LoGD version 097 download available on: April 04, 2015, 01:30:19 AM
I would, but with Version 1.1.2. the translation into german is shitty. (Since I want to make a german server.) And I am not crazy about the idea of translating it all by myself.
Isn't the 0.9.7 version even easier with adding modules? Or is that just something else I did poor research on?

Did you look at the default translation function, or did you check out Nightborn's translation wizard (in the modules section)?  There should be some good German translations with it...
33  Coding Support / v0.9.7 Technical Help / Re: LoGD version 097 download available on: April 04, 2015, 01:28:31 AM
1.1.2 is for modules.

The 097 version does not support the module system used by the current code.  Additionally, code is not to be ported between the two versions except by the original author of the mod/module.

Quote
However, any core changes in 1.1.2 must be shared - where as with 0.9.7, you do not have to.

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!!!!

You are expected to share code changes in ALL VERSIONS.  The attitude of "you do not have to" with 097 was what precipitated the change in license with later versions.  This is an open source application with share and share alike licensing, which applied and continues to apply to ALL RELEASED VERSIONS.

That is the main downfall of 1.1.2. You could just have staff translate the text perfectly.

Sharing is the main downfall?  Of an open source project?  Righhhhhttttt.

There's also the "LotGD" forum theme you can select in your profile settings.

I know I'm not a moderator, but I'm pretty sure that http://dragonprime.net/index.php?topic=12170.0 is still in effect. We are here to be supportive of others. Not to goad others into fights. Not to try and stir the pot with others. We are here to support each other, and help each other

Correct.  Now if I have to waste any more of my time removing playground drama posts, I will also be handing out time-outs to the authors of those posts.

And like, if you request a module and someone is generous enough to take the time to make it for you, please don't alter the code

Open source is all about the ability to alter the code to do what you like.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with changing a module to meet your tastes.  What IS wrong is not sharing your changes when requested as is required by the license under which everyone is permitted to use (and alter) this code.

and change the author to your name.

Original author name must be maintained, but if you change the code and subsequently share the module you can add your name to the author credit.  See elsewhere in the forums for more discussion on the right way to do that.

Shit like that is just brutal, y'know, DF?

Keep the language here clean and the comments drama free.

That's the beauty of test servers, development servers and things like WINAmp, so all development can be done away from the main site.
38  Game Administration, Installation and Configuration / Game Administration Chat / Re: Question about module author display. on: January 18, 2015, 11:10:20 PM
That would strike me as being a bit intrusive, really.  Remember that this is open source which means you are permitted to modify the code provided that proper attribution is given.  As long as the attribution is properly stated in the author property then removing that in game display is fine.

Have you checked out the Resource Pages on the left?
40  Village Square / General Discussion Area / Re: Classic Server Down on: October 13, 2014, 10:57:53 AM
The classic server and logdnet list server are still both owned and maintained by MightyE independently of DragonPrime.  I'm not sure what's happening with them or when they'll be back online.

Everyone who emails me gets activated. It's just a question of when I get to it.

This is something you need to check with your webhost.
43  Important Stuff - You need to read this! / DragonPrime Announcements / Re: Is LoGD still alive ? on: April 06, 2014, 07:57:42 AM
Be civil.  I don't have time for this snarky BS here.  (If you don't see the snarky BS, it's because I wasted some of my life deleting the useless comments.)

If you don't want to take part in what Tucher is proposing, don't take part in it.  We've established that.

We don't need to repeat it multiple times, and we don't need these insults being thrown around.  And you don't want me enforcing a stoppage of that.

License - will not be changed.  I don't have the right to make any changes to it, and MightyE will need some very persuasive reasons to modify it.  Dependent upon the quality of the project, a release under DragonPrime may be possible but I can't commit to that at this point.

Team Discussion - yes, I could set that up here in Dragonprime should there be enough interest.

Subversion - this might be a good place for kickme to pitch in, as he has done a fair bit of work on the code beyond the current released version.  Whether it is a good launching point or not, only he can advise on that.   We could discuss the viability and willingness to open the DP subversion for this project.

Maybe you can upgrade the forum software?
The footer says we're running version 1.1.13, the current as stable mentioned version of simple machine forum ist 2.0.7

Yes, I am aware.

The next update I do will totally nerf the downloads system, portal pages and everything else we have setup.  Ready for that?  I'm not.
