1  Game Administration, Installation and Configuration / Installation and Configuration Assistance / Re: Test Server on: September 10, 2017, 12:09:49 AM
...and it had phpBB in there but I don't think that is what I want....

phpBB is a bulletin board

I am clueless, clueless, clueless as to how to find this information...I have NO IDEA what version of PHP my server runs, i never had any reason to need to know before.

Google is clueFULL.  Are you making use of it?

2  Modules, Themes and other customizations for your game / Completed Modules for version 1.x.x / Re: File Discussion: Multi Poke on: September 07, 2017, 05:08:51 PM
I'm going to sum up here, then let this thread return to what it was originally intended for.  I will eventually remove all the garbage, and I will immediately remove any more off topic replies to this one.

1.  We don't care what version you run.  You don't want to upgrade, we get it.  But stop asking people to make modules compatible with your outdated version.
2.  Stop asking if modules are compatible with your version.  Learn to test them yourself.
3.  If you keep asking the same question "Is this module compatible with 1.0.0, expect to keep receiving the same sage advice - upgrade and learn to run a test server."

Now...please stick to discussion of Multi-Poke in this thread, and drop the previous debate from here and anywhere else in Dragonprime.

Thank you.

Test Server - if you don't have one, set one up.  Then you can test things like whether a module works in your version of the game.  Or whether the updated version of the game works with your modules.  You don't want to test the unknowns on your live server, and nobody else here can tell you whether these modules will work on your setup or with changes.

Version - It's your choice not to run the latest code release however you also deny your users and your servers any benefits of improved security (and yes, there were some critical fixes between 1.1.0 and 1.1.2) and system performance improvements - again, there were significant changes which make a big difference on the server end of things.  However do not expect people here to be willing to reverse engineer modules to work in earlier versions.  If you want to know whether a module will work on your version or otherwise, see Test Server.  If you want a module to work on your version, get coding!

You may notice in many programs and applications that updated versions are sometimes not able to maintain compatibility with earlier programming.  That's the nature of the beast.  Don't hold your breath waiting for version 1.1.3 or that it would be completely backwards compatible.

New Moderator but no one to answer support issues.  Huh

It's a quiet site, these days, and you get what you pay for.  How much did you pay...?

I am very sorry for that.  Undecided

Thanks  Smiley

If the only file in the archive is "about.php", and you zip it up to go in there then either your system has something working to insert the malware (but your antivirus gives it a clean bill of health) or you're getting a false positive...meaning there isn't anything to worry about.

As an alternative, you might try archiving it as a .tar and using commandline to unpackage it on the server.  Putty is a good free program for that.
7  Coding Support / Coding Support Desk / Re: Error "UNOFFICIAL FOUND" on: April 24, 2017, 07:09:15 PM
Hard to help if you don't point us to the specific file you downloaded.  I'm not aware of any files hosted in the downloads section here with viruses, nor are there any archives in the downloads titled about.zip.  No sign of it in the attached files either.

A quick google search of the error message indicates a spam script with possible false positives.

Nothing more I can do without more detail from you.

With austenmc leading the charge for revitalizing LoGD through the Daenerys project, and other contributions to DragonPrime, it seems appropriate to bring him further onboard as a site moderator here at DragonPrime.  Thank you for your assistance, Austen!

Thanks for making this available, Aeolus.  It can now be downloaded through DragonPrime as well. (yes, finally)

The community of DragonPrime is not a police force. Also you shouldn't mention "someone who dislikes HPO" - it creates drama by singling out a recent issue. Do not make more threads like these. This is childish, from both sides.

Dragonprime provides the code and a place to get assistance modifying the code and hosting a game site.  We are not a police force and we are not the least bit interested in the childish dramatics that goes on between Dragonprime account holders.  It does not belong here, and life is too short for me to waste my time solving your petty little issues.

One more word on it, I'll start with 7 day bans.  And you wonder why account approval is still manual???
12  Village Square / General Discussion Area / Re: Regarding Harry Potter Online (HPO) on: January 26, 2017, 05:03:10 PM
Get your drama off Dragonprime.

The license does not provide exemptions from compliance.  Not complying because you feel it is unenforceble is bullshit.  Not complying because you don't like the requester is bullshit.  If you choose to regularly break license requirements you can also not expect support from Dragonprime.

Decisions you make which lead to unpleasant situations on your site are your problem.  Not mine, nor the other Dragonprime users.

Any further complaints on this matter here will result in bans.  End of story.

Elessa runns lotgd.net

No...Elessa is even less active than I am these days.  The lotgd.net server is still owned and run by Eric Stevens.  From what I understand, he has continued to tinker with the code somewhat as well but I haven't communicated with him for quite some time now.

Some more extensive browser games seem to leave certain elements out of the mobile version of the app.  I guess the philosophy is to give the critical elements needed for daily activity and game progression, and if they want the extra management/detail/stat functions then they can log into the browser interface.  There are players in those instances who were initially engaged on the mobile app and seem to remain blissfully unaware that there is more to the game than what they see!

All that we ask for is evidence that you've attempted to learn it.

Not that there is any requirement on her part to provide "evidence she's trying to learn it", the tone taken in posts should not be as sarcastic or nasty as some of the ones I see.  If someone doesn't have anything pleasant to say, don't say it here.  Instead of bashing or belittling, just ask if she has checked the command's parameters in documentation...which may lead to her or someone else learning something new there.

We obviously want to help you, otherwise we wouldn't be replying Smiley.

Which is very much appreciated by everyone.  All I ask is that those being helpful don't get snarky with the helpees...forums full of snarky users wind up dying out because nobody wants to post in case they become the next target.

So please - play nice.

And have a Merry Christmas.
