Title: Clan Buffs
Post by: arieswind on July 06, 2006, 06:49:44 PM
An interesting idea I came across: buffs that anyone in the clan can put forth gems to upgrade a bit at a time, and the buff is shared by all members of the clan

Who knows if its balanced, but here it is

-each clan gets their own buff
-anyone from the clan can pay to upgrade certain facets of the buff: atk/def modifier, duration etc

it maxes out at 1.5x atk/def and 150 turns,
atk/def starts at 1.05, and goes up .05 for each level, and each level costs 10 more gems, eg 10,20,30
turns start at 10 and go up 10, cost = 5,10,15,20,25 etc

it also updates the entire clan's buff when a new upgrade is bought

Beware... Clan Buffs 2.0 is released:

-Each clan now has a "bank" -- anyone can deposit gems, but only a leader can spend them on the buff (no withdraws allowed)

-The following values are admin-settable for each of the 5 functions (attack, defense, lifetap, damageshield, regen) and the duration:

- On or off
- Activation cost
- Upgrade cost (base)
- Upgrade cost (increment)
- Effect (base)
- Effect (increment)

Also the "ultimate upgrade" is buyable after everything else has been bought, this will make the buff permanent, it can be toggled off or on, and also the cost is settable

ALSO, the "total strength" of the buff is calculated as (cost of all upgrades bought)/(total cost of all upgrades) and is computed on the fly(sort of), so if you change some of the costs, the total strength of the buffs will also change

Included is a Hall of fame page, ranked by total strength

You must leave feedback, or I will pvp you with a 3.0 atkmod buff in place :)

For example the $text variable is untranslatable (case "activate").

I really like this idea! It's great. I keep getting an error everytime I try and go to the clan buffs though......

Fatal error: clanbuffs_run(): Failed opening required 'modules/clanbuffs/clanbuffs.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home3/jacgib/public_html/dragon/modules/clanbuffs.php on line 162

do you have the lib files in a folder called clanbuffs in the modules folder? are they set to something like 755 so the web server can read them? does your php include path have your modules directory in it?

it would appear that the original author of this module hast not been around in awhile. perhaps send her an IM explaining the problem and hope that she gets an e-mail notification in receipt so that she is aware of the need for some modifications.

otherwise, unless someone who understands code is interested in trying to fix this module it will not be of use to ye.  perhaps ye should uninstall it for the time being.

Yup, Aeriswind is not around at the moment. I know for a fact this module works for 1.10...I have both used it on her server and installed it on my own without any problems. Might I suggest upgrading to 1.10 if you are currently using a different version of the game?

Is there a possibility to get the Vault Module and the Clan Buffs Module to use only ONE Gem storing table? at both modules you could deposit gems, but it would be better if they would count up to one big gem account. (I would like to use both modules)

Hope you know what i mean, must be only a change in de DB_Tanle i guess, but how ? Don`t have any clue ...

Title: Re: Clan Buffs

it's a good idea.

I want a response me too. ::)

Title: Re: Clan Buffs
Post by: Iori on September 06, 2006, 04:42:17 AM
Yup, that would be a great idea (saves having to withdraw gems from the vault and store it in the buffs gem place). As to how it can be implemented, I don't know. As aeriswind probably won't be back for a while, the faster way would be to ask whoever wrote the Clan Vault module to hear out your idea, IMO.

Hi, i've merged your Changes into my file and everything seems to work , but there is one little problem after all:

You go to the Clan Buff Main Page, on the right you see a current listing of your gems in the bank, here only the old store from the clan buff bank is listet ...

of cource i've changed also here your settings, but thats pretty weired

EDIT: Now it works, i've just forgotten to change a line! Many many thanks!

Title: Re: Clan Buffs
Post by: Fieser-Kardinal on September 16, 2006, 02:13:23 AM
There is a BUG!

If all Buffs where bought, you have the Option to buy the Permanent Buff. If i buy this ZUpgrad, nothing changes! The Buff is still round limited!

Please help me, this is very urgent!

EDIT: It seems that the setting "ultactive" for the clan isn't changed from 0 to 1 to activate the permanet buff. When i change it manually the permanet buff is aktivated an works, but this should't be the solution!

Title: Re: Clan Buffs
Post by: trapeur on September 16, 2006, 11:34:28 AM
i make a modification for the beug

find

Quote

calculate_level();
            addnav("Clan Buffs");
            if(get_module_objpref("clans", $session['user']['clanid'],"atklevel")==0){
               addnav("Activate Atk Mod (`550 Gems`0)","runmodule.php?module=clanbuffs&op=activateatk");
            }elseif (get_module_objpref("clans", $session['user']['clanid'],"atklevel")<10){
               addnav("Upgrade Atk Mod (`5".(get_module_objpref("clans", $session['user']['clanid'],"atklevel")*10)." Gems`0)","runmodule.php?module=clanbuffs&op=upgradeatk");
            }
            if(get_module_objpref("clans", $session['user']['clanid'],"deflevel")==0){
               addnav("Activate Def Mod (`550 Gems`0)","runmodule.php?module=clanbuffs&op=activatedef");
            }elseif (get_module_objpref("clans", $session['user']['clanid'],"deflevel")<10){
               addnav("Upgrade Def Mod (`5".(get_module_objpref("clans", $session['user']['clanid'],"deflevel")*10)." Gems`0)","runmodule.php?module=clanbuffs&op=upgradedef");
            }

and replace by this

Quote
calculate_level();
            addnav("Clan Buffs");
            if(get_module_objpref("clans", $session['user']['clanid'],"atklevel")==0){
               addnav("Activate Atk Mod (`550 Gems`0)","runmodule.php?module=clanbuffs&op=activateatk");
            }elseif (get_module_objpref("clans", $session['user']['clanid'],"atklevel")<10){
               addnav("Upgrade Atk Mod (`5".(get_module_objpref("clans", $session['user']['clanid'],"atklevel")*5)." Gems`0)","runmodule.php?module=clanbuffs&op=upgradeatk");
            }

               addnav("Activate Def Mod (`550 Gems`0)","runmodule.php?module=clanbuffs&op=activatedef");

            }

now, when a player upgarde attack or defense, he pays the pice that is announce.

Title: Re: Clan Buffs
Post by: Iori on October 10, 2006, 08:59:12 AM
Ok...if it doesn't even show up for installation, it's indeed strange...just to check...is there a file called clanbuffs.php in modules/ and 2 files (clanbuffs.php and clanbuffs_func.php) in modules/clanbuffs? Also, check that you don't have the 2 clanbuffs.php files confused...the one in modules/ should have the module info at the beginning.

Umm, sorry am new to these forum so appologies if this is not warrented.
I got the above whilst testing the mod myself. T'was easy for me to find out I had just been a bit stupid when I lowered the prices of some of the upgrades (very low playerbase; intended). In the Settings:Clan Buff Settings tab there is a Remake Cost Array setting at "No". It does say beneath it that you should change that to "Yes" if you make changes to anything. After having a look at the code I'd also guess you should set it when you install the module.
Hope this helps someone.

I thought it wierd the value wasn't set on install.
Seems the function remake_costs needs to be called each time the values are changed (and after install) or else the % of strength is wrong, or in this case impossible.

Sorry if the topic is dead, just thought posting this might help someone who got the same result as Griswald.

line 140 in modules\clanbuffs.php (the main file)

Code:
             if($session['user']['clanid']!=0){

should be:

Code:
             if ($session['user']['clanid'] != 0 && $session['user']['clanrank'] > 0) {

to prevent applicants from receiving the clan buff of the clan they are applying (but not yet accept into) to.

what version are you running of the module?

it was fixed in v 2.1 which is downloadable from here (http://dragonprime.net/index.php?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=1036)

Kind of strange, but the options to set buffs doesn't appear to founders, only leaders.

I imagine the fix is something simple, such as:

if clanrank >= leader
instead of
if clanrank == leader

Anyway, just tossing this out there. I don't have the time to look into it myself at the moment.

Heh.

File: modules/clanbuffs/clanbuffs.php
Code: (Line 26, CHANGE)
if ($session['user']['clanrank']==CLAN_LEADER) {
Code: (TO)
if ($session['user']['clanrank']>=CLAN_LEADER) {
I've included the fixed file, which grants FOUNDERS the same permissions as LEADERS...I can't think of a reason this wouldn't be desired, but if it is, don't use this file. :)

You can always add a setting to allow or disallow clan leader access.  That would be the best solution.

hi, activated the buff, this is what i see

Clan buffs are extremely expensive, but potentially very powerful assets.
There are a total of 12212 gems in your clan bank.

The stats of your clan's buff are as follows:
Attack Multiplier: Not Active
Defense Multiplier: Not Active
HP Drain: Not Active
Damage Reflection: Not Active
Regeneration: Not Active
Duration: 0 Rounds (Level 0)
Total Strength: 0%

how do i actually gain things in this buff. there is no option to increase base things??

can you help me

At this point you should have nav options to increase the buffs.  e.g., Activate Atk Mult (150 gems) .  Are you really not seeing them?  You may need to go back to your clan hall and then re-enter the Clan Buffs section.

If you are the clan founder and do not have the fix installed on it you will need to step down as founder or have a leader do your buff upgrades for you...

I am having a major issue and can not figure out how too fix it!! I am running the 1.1.1 stable release on said server and as you might know if you are using a lot of the older modules you must turn settings off for them to work right with this version...

Well with the clan buffs I have tried to turn it off for PVP and it still helps players in PVP, so I turned it on and it STILL helps with PVP... and as you know it is very hard to kill someone in PVP that has over 100000 more hit points than you and 200 dragon kills more... if anyone has a quick fix idea please let me know... I have looked at the codes and still find nothing I can modify to fix this problem...

thank you.

you are correct. it is difficult to win. however, it is part and parcel of the game. there will always be players who have been playing longer and have the advantage of more HP/ATK/DEF due to experience.

if someone doesn't want to be killed, they can set their PVP pref to not participate if you have pvpimmunity.php installed.

ye could also use pvpblock.php to form restrictions and bands.  both modules are part of the recommended core modules download.

The setting to turn pvp on/off will only affect NEW clan buffs applied after you change that setting, meaning after the next new day/buff refresh.

The buff, once applied, is independent of any settings whatsoever (even uninstalling the module will not remove the buff). All you had to do after changing the pvp setting was to wait for the next time the buff is applied for the changes to take effect.

I did that many times, we worked on this module for 3 weeks. we had many new days as they are set for every 2 hours... but all is fixed now. thanks for the reply though

I've had it running on a 1.1.1 server for quite some time with no issues.  1.1.2 should be the same, since the improvements in it will not change that.

The module installation requirements are pretty much  described earlier in the discussion thread (http://dragonprime.net/index.php?topic=4829.msg50397#msg50397) for this module.  But to expand on them: The contents of the zip file should be placed in the modules directory, just like for most modules.  In this case, the zip file contains the files
  • clanbuffs.php
  • clanbuffs/clanbuffs.php
  • clanbuffs/clanbuffs_func.php

After the installation, then, you should have the following files:
  • modules/clanbuffs.php
  • modules/clanbuffs/clanbuffs.php
  • modules/clanbuffs/clanbuffs_func.php

And you'll also want to apply Tela's fix (http://dragonprime.net/index.php?topic=4829.msg78752#msg78752) (earlier in the discussion thread) so that clan founders can change things.

What happens: there needs some gems in clan bank (1000->2000->4000...) I give it to bank, first activate 100 gems standard, after that i must give 1000, 2000, 3000 in bank, but strength, duration ect was not increased. And there wasn't a buttons for it increase, i put one button: deposit gems. I am a leader of a clan where I rty to do it. All settions of plugin "buffs" are standard.

eugene, i suggest ye read this entire thread to discover the answer to your question.

it is recommended that when ye have questions concerning a specific module that ye post them in the discussion thread for that module.  there is usually a link to the thread in the description of the module in the downloads area.

thanks!

Hey...I added a little something to this...because something was bgging me for a while on this.

When you Clan Buff is at full strength, people could still deposit gems into the Clan Buff Vault...but you would never again be able to get them out, so the gems would, in fact, be totally wasted.

So I altered code slightly...s that if the Ultimate Buff is active, you can't deposit any more gems.  See code below:

Code:
calculate_level();
if (get_module_objpref("clans", $session['user']['clanid'],"ultactive")==0){
addnav("Clan Buffs");
addnav("Deposit Gems","runmodule.php?module=clanbuffs&op=deposit");
} else {
output ("`b`LDon't deposit any gems here, they will be wasted as Clan Buff is at full strength!`b`n");
 }

The calculate_level line is in the original coding.
I added the call for the get_module_objprefs - so it could see if the ultimate buff is active.

the addnav lines are in the original code.

then I added the else and output lines.

This way...if the Ultimate Buff is active, it blocks the navigation to deposit gems, and instead puts a notice up to not deposit any Gems, as they would be wasted.

I figure don't want people who do not know any better to waste gems if they are trying to donate to their clan...and donating in the wrong place!

By the way, I then tested this...and it does work.  I used a character in a clan with the ultimate active...and yep...you can't add more gems to the Clab Buff Vault.  Then tried with a different character in a clan that does not have the Ultimate active...and yep...you can still deposit gems into that clan buff vault.
